Default Gamecube now considered a "retro" console.

Today I was at my local mall, and to my surprise, when I went into the Gamestop, they cleared out their Gamecube section. When I asked why, they told me that starting April 2nd, the Gamecube will be considered a collectible console.

This is clearly because it is now two generations outdated. The Wii and Wii U are above it. Similar to how the N64 was two generations outdated when the Wii came out.

Luckily, I still have almost 50 Gamecube games.

What do you think? Will you buy a Gamecube now? Do you already have one? Do you plan on making a lot of money with you "collectible" games?

You were surprised they finally got rid of their Gamecube section? What's so surprising about that?

The fact that they still have Xbox and PS2, mostly. Also, because my mall always had about 50 games instock.

Eh, I already have a GameCube and about 15-20 games. I also have a Wii if the GameCube dies out on me. So it doesn't bother me as much...

I also do most of my game purchasing from eBay or a local game store (and the store is a real gem if you ask me) so this doesn't bother me as much...not to mention most of GameStop GCN/Xbox/PS2 games are overpriced.

Sure, but I got F-Zero GX, Wave Race Blue Storm, and Resident Evil 4 for a combined total of $15.

I still have my GameCube. Only have three games for it though - wasn't much of a gamer when I got it. Been lookin' to get a few of the major titles I missed out on online.
