A truly great video game doesn't age. For example, Ocarina of Time has clearly aged while A Link to the Past is as fantastic as ever, a true hallmark.

Time seperates the men from the boys.

I must disagree here. I think the main problem with OoT if you compare it to today are its graphics- early 3D games look really blocky, while 16 bit games still look good. I love OoT 3D's gameplay and I'm fairly sure it hasn't really changed (except from some easier menu navigation).

OoT is the game that got me to become a core gamer, so I have vast amounts of respect and nostalgia for it. However, it's a lot more than just the graphics. The world is relatively bare, the dungeon designs frequently border motonony or clumsiness, the z targeting is laughably basic as is all of the combat, story is bleh, etc.

TP also hasn't aged well, comparing it to the glorious WW, and a huge part of that is because TP is just OoT 2.

Either way, graphics don't matter to me at all. I still think games like Code Veronica, Star Fox 64, Spyro, etc still look lovely.

That must be different taste then. I like that it's so bare, and the dungeons don't feel monotonous to me at all. Haven't played the N64 version so I can't say anything about the Z targeting.

But the music is so good
and surely LttP combat isn't even more basic
story isn't the best but very emotional for me

I miss the days when people had still visions and builded games about there imaginations.

Games like Myst / Pokemon ( first ones ) etc.

These days a game is more focused around "what people would like" then what the develop would be interested in.

While people go insane on a GTA5 that just looks more of the same of the earlier experiences, or a new the same kind of mario / call of duty / halo / god of war etc is just mindboggling.

It's like somebody going completely insane out of hype when "the idols clone number 20 is announced".

I just don't understand it.

I want experiences that pull me in, and won't let me go. That challenge me and at the same time keeps me interested, and still be refreshing new.

A game where you really want to pull yourself back into, after you completed or think about longer then 5 seconds before you quit it.

A game where you really want to pull yourself backtrack into, after you completed or think about longer then 5 seconds before you quit it.

Developers need to understand that they should do only something's that they should make. But if they would make their own ideas people would probably like them better than COD HALO GTA

I miss nothing. I'm not the kind of sticking to the past in general.

Games were good and still are good.
