Hey Aaron, welcome to the forums. Make sure you read the forum rules and check out the stickied threads at the top of each subforum before posting. What genre do you write about?

To be honest I've only recently begun writing seriously, but I'm told by a lot of artists whom I respect greatly that my writing has improved a tremendous amount (and some have stated that I'm an "amazing writer".) So I suppose I'm not bad.

Anyway, my latest (and so far only) story takes place in a "modern" world, but one whose economy and people have been devastated by the Cold War (which has extended into the 21st Century).

(DANG IT I JUST TYPED OUT A HUGE AMOUNT OF TEXT BUT I CLICKED A LINK AND LOST EVERYTHIN!).

-_- I'll edit this post in a little bit/add a reply, explaining the content of the story further. >_> It's far more interesting that just the "World War III alternate history" trope. I promise.

I feel motivated enough to elaborate on my story, again. Basically, the Soviet government develops technology to extract energy from the minds of people-- but especially use the mentally ill; as they're considered to be"burdens on society;" and because the technique they use makes use of negative emotions begotten from spiritual stress (e.g., depression, mania, hallucinations, etc.), thus making exploiting the ill more profitable. They build machines of warring and industrial nature that are powered from the energy source harvested from the discarded and outcast members of their society.

And they use those machines to put pressure on the Free World (NATO most especially), and spread Communism to the rest of the world.

I also plan on incorporating philosophy/metaphysics/physics into the story. I'm pretty knowledgable on all three of those subjects, so at least that will be easier than it would be if I had chosen other sources of inspiration. :P

I have four main characters developed so far, and I really like them.
