Default Yeah, I'm one of those so-called "creepy" adults who likes video games.

But then again, I remember when we got our first Attari system and playing games like Pong, PacMac, etc. The system belonged, of course, to my older brothers, but they sometimes let me play too. (I should tell you folks the story sometime about how, when I got a SNES, my dad was the one who ended up on video game restriction, not me. Keep in mind I am going to be 35 soon and he turned 69 in February, and this was a year after the SNES first came out.)

My name is Jami and I'm a woman from California. I like music ranging from Big Band to Disco. My fictional heroes include Sherlock Holmes, Mr. Spock, and Lt. Com. Data. Yes, I am a Trekkie and I collect comic books. I also sing. I'm owned by a little dog named Minnie. She's my first ever rescue dog. (My first dog, Bitty, was one of those "free to a good home" types in a box outside a little store. My 2nd, Audrey, was a gift from my cousin Eddie. Both lived to be 16 years old.) Minnie's a former breeder dog from a puppy mill. She's a minature maltese/poodle mix. She's lost all but 7 of her teeth because of the puppy mill condictions, weighs 7.2 pounds (she was 3 1/2 when rescued and 5 1/2 when I adopted her) and is the only dog I know that LIKES to wear clothing.

I just recently bought a 3DS while out with my nephew. I found these forums because I had let him use it while I was at work and found he changed a lot of my settings - including the Mii Maker and Street Pass - to suit him without asking my permission. This is the kind of thing that would've gotten me in trouble at his age. So I was very upset when I found these things out.

Alright, I admit, I was madder than a wet hen. I don't like people messing with my stuff. (Who does?) And searches both through the instruction booklets and the internet weren't helping. So in desperation I came here. I think I have it almost all fixed, except his name is on my pedometer.

I know, it seems childish, really, but like I said, when I was his age if I messed with other peoples' stuff like this my parents would have put me on restriction and given me a huge lecture about respecting other people and their property. If he had asked my permission I wouldn't have minded - except I'd want his character to to be a secondary one, not primary like he made it - but he just went and did it without asking.

No offense to the kids out there. I'm sure you're not all like that.

I am a very mature "kid". Unlike the ignorant ones I see most of the time.

Welcome to the forums, JamiSings!! Might I ask why you chose such a strange name?

Yes, welcome to the forums!

So your nephew practically made the settings according to him? If this is the case, in System Settings, you could click Format 3DS system, but you would lose everything, even your game data.

Greetings, salutations and what not. I know it might not be the best solution, but there is a factory reset in the system settings that would wipe anything the kid did to it.

I feel your pain. Though not as extreme my niece and nephew deleted my Mario Kart DS save file when I let them use it for one cartridge multiplayer. After a heavy sigh, and figuring Mario Kart 3DS would be out later this year I decided to let them just have the game since I didn't want to put in the time to unlock R.O.B. again. My brother was greatful since it gave the kids something to do for the 15 hour car ride home.

Welcome to the forums! I'm a kid (14) but I'm pretty mature, and I can actually spell XD Don't worry about being labelled creepy, gaming is starting to go mainstream and I think it WILL be mainstream within 10 years - most likely less. Also where I'm from you can realy see how gaming is growing popular with older people. If you have people close to you that don't understand the appeal in gaming then make them play a game that you think would resonate with them. I showed my mum (yes I'm Australian) flower and I think she "gets" the artistic side of gaming a little bit more now.
