What does everyone think of the Academy Award nominations?

Obviously, I'm no expert on any of this, and I'm totally ignorant in some categories (best live-action short film? lolwut?)

I'm somewhat disappointed in best picture (The Descendants and War Horse over Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy? Go to hell, Oscar bait). I'm surprised Tintin and Winnie the Pooh 2011 were snubbed for animated feature. I am not surprised Cars 2 was snubbed for animated feature. I am annoyed that that nostalgia-saturated pandering-to-critics thing The Artist is basically poised to win everything.

I hear The Tree of Life is the sh*t. Anyone seen it?

Cars was one of the dumbest ideas to consider making a sequel to.

It was unnecessary.

Cars is the second largest movie merchandise empire of all time, behind Star Wars. It wasn't long ago that Pixar had made more money on Cars merchandise than they'd made from all their box office proceeds from all their movies combined.

A short film is a movie that has a running time of 40 minutes or less. Live-action is the opposite of animated.

The fact that Alan Rickman didn't get nominated is a discrace against the human race.

I know the definition. I was poking fun at my total ignorance of all of the actual nominees--I've never heard of any of them before, and that's the case every year.
