Adobe gives up on trying to bring Flash to mobile devices | Metro.co.uk

Well, one of the biggest reasons people complain about iOS and praise about android looks like it won't matter anymore. Instead Adobe will be working on HTML5.

Good ridance.
It was battery draining and was very inconsitant on different devices, long live HTML .

That sucks... because some people use flash on their mobile for convenience. Say you want to show your friend a YouTube vid, and if flash goes poof, then you couldn't show it to them there on the spot...

Very wrong. I can look at youtube videos on my iPhone. The iPhone doesn't have flash.

It could use the HTML version of Youtube or just do what raney iPhone and all other mobile Apple devices do and use the video player to watch videos.

It depends on the mobile browser, some view webpages like you would on a webpage on a pc/laptop, and some DL a different format of the vid onto a app that plays the video outside of flash. but Flash isn't only good for YouTube, think of flash-based games, and flash-based websites. If flash goes poof, those won't be accessible from mobiles.

Sure flash may be a battery hog, but sometimes in some situations it is necessary.

Html5. This can be used for video. In fact adobe is abandoning flash for mobile devices to use Html5. This isn't a bad thing, this could help further the spread of Html5.

I go to the website in safari. It's way better than the youtube app.

Adobe also gave up flash on smart TVs too.

The end in nigh for Flash.

Some day, Adobe will stop updating it for every platform, including computers, and it will only be used for Flash games people keep playing. For the rest of any new content, HTML5.
