Default Adult gamers -- A question

I know there are at least a few members that are "adults", i.e. in their 20's, 30's and above. Do any of you find that forums that have a mixed crowd, such as this one, sometimes leave you feeling out of place?

I lurked here for quite awhile before signing up. After doing so, and starting to insert my opinions here and there, I find that I often fight uphill battles instead of having conversations. I've offended users, undoubtedly. Users that are younger and reading this post are possibly offended.

Please don't misunderstand, I think that sites like this are brilliant. For awhile, it was even a good place for me to link up to my friend code site, and I'm glad for that, even if the friend code thing is being handled by threads, Facebook, and probably iPhone and Android apps by now. By and large, I like posting here, even if I don't have as much time to do so these days. But there's something missing.

You see, sometimes I want to talk to people closer to my own age group. I want to talk to people that remember when Final Fantasy #1 came out. I want to talk to people that played Pacman on an Atari system when they were little kids, and not just a rehashed version made for iPhone. It's that nostalgia that I miss, and there have got to be other gamers here that miss it, too.

Without going any further, yes, I have made another website. To honor and respect the wishes of the mods here, I no longer link to my personal web sites without their express permission, but I can say that it's a site for grownups that have been gaming for most of their lives. I'd like it if my site actually had some members that, like me, want to occasionally talk about retro gaming as well as the new gaming platforms they have discovered.

I'm 25 and I don't feel out of place, perhaps because I've never grown up; however, I do get tired of all this immature "bashing".

Being 87, these kids running around, flaunting in the Forum Games, really start to annoy.

Get of my profile lawn.

I feel about the same here, however I only came to this site because some friends from another site that went down migrated here. I'm making a site for older gamers later on, i'll send you a pm with the adress later if you like.

I am 33 and yes, I've just noticed that there're many kids in the forum. However, because the responds are usually very general, I don't feel to be out of place..at least not yet.

I understand where you're coming from. I don't mind talking to people who may be younger than me but there's almost no point in debating with some of them. It will almost turn into name calling or just complete stubbornness, whether you're right or wrong. And sometimes the constant spamming and whining is too much for me to take. I also understand wanting to talk to someone who shares the same or near mindset as you with games, or at least know what you're talking about or where you're coming from. It's no fun talking to someone younger who may have no clue what the hell you're talking about
