Does anyone play this free game?
As I might download it.

I have played it but it's only really worth it if you're willing to spend money on in-game items and what not; otherwise it gets boring fast.

It's not really worth it. It's not bad, just boring, as CUDpwns said. You need to buy a lot of stuff to actually consider it as a game...

Just stick with BF2 and Bad Company 2 until we get BF3. I just watched the 12 minute Fault Line gameplay trailer...now I really want to go play BF2 or BC2 xD.

It may be free, and it's really cool when developers do this sort of thing, but you absolutely will need to plop down cash to play it effectively. There is no way around it, sadly.

As for mod tools, I know there wasn't back when it was new, as a lot of people complained, and my initial searching indicates it still doesn't, but it's been a few years since it came out, so it's possible. I wouldn't bet on it, though.
