| I'm deciding between a $200+ Android phone which tend to have dual core processors because the OS needs all the multitasking power it can get. Android 4.0 looks very beautiful and I'd like to try it out, problems are that: Fragmentation - Androids tend to get outdated really quickly compared to Apple and Windows because of all the different manufacturers and phones there are. Some phones get updated with the newest OS(Ice Cream Sandwich for Galaxy Nexus) while others get screwed up and don't(Samsung Galaxy S). If I'm going to have a smartphone for 2 years I'd like to be happy with it throughout. Use lots of power - Because of the extrenuous power the OS needs(Galaxy S has the potential to run ICS, but touchwiz holds it back), battery power tends to be very low. Apps inferior to iOS - I don't know if this is true or not, but I do know that viruses and malware are more frequent in Android than iOS because each app isn't reviewed by Apple. But you, DAT CUSTOMIZATION. Then there's Windows phones which are the underdog of the "Big 3". I like the OS's design since tiles are pretty, I've never tried it out though but it looks pretty smooth. Mango doesn't use as much power as Android's so it can settle for a single-core processor. I love the integration with social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter so chatting in FB and texting the same person goes together. Problems are: Lack of options - For t-mobile, HTC Radar and the Nokia Lumia 710(Coming out Jan 11th) are the only windows phones available atm and neither are "top-notch" and pretty much mid-end. Customization - I heard that you can't customize your own ringtone on Windows phones? Is that true? Tiles - They look pretty but people say that once there's too many apps, it starts getting cluttered. I don't have much to say about Apple, RIM, Symbian, etc since I didn't try them much but I'd like some feedback on what you guys like about these OSs. |

Definitely iOS for its polish. But some android phones run better.

iOS for sure. It simply offers the best thought-through user experience. Android is just a bunch of features loosely glued together (in a very inefficient way, hence Android never runs as smoothly as iOS, despite often running on more powerful hardware.. which shows you that raw specs don't matter much when the software sucks).

If you know what you're doing, (or want to know what you're doing), get an Android and customize the hell out of it. Root the thing, do whatever you want with it. If that's too much trouble for you or you want to sheeple it up, by all means get an iPhone, and wait for it to become obsolete in 6 months while Apple locks down your electronic life through their proprietary tech.

Android phone = obsolescence after half a year. iPhone = full support for 2-3 years. |

Which is why you do your research and get a good Android phone and not a crappy $150 Android that still runs Froyo. You get a Top of the Line Android with 4.0, and it'll be leagues ahead of whatever iPhone model there is for the longest time.

Android 100%. I have a Sony Ericson Xperia Arc (kinda regret getting it instead of the Galaxy S II though) but still it's an amazing device. But if you're going for an android phone get the Galaxy Nexus. It's the fastest and most amazing android phone yet. My opinion is a little biased seeing as how I dislike Apple and all it's products. One of the few things I disagree with Buramu. |

I do think there is a point where a phone can have too big of a screen. And that one definitely surpasses that point. Last edited by raney150; 12-29-2011 at 06:52 AM. |
