Default Confrontation with someone close

I'm going to confront my father on his poor eating habits tonight or tomorrow and I'm just wondering if anyone could give me advice or if anyone else also has someone close to them that they need to confront over an issue of serious nature. Anyways, my Dad is 5'8" and over 350 pounds at 62 years of age, he eats fast food all the time, chips, candy, soda, and everything else bad for you and I'm sick of seeing him kill himself more and more each day. Can anyone give me some serious advice of how to tackle the conversation that I'm going to have to have with him?

Walk up to him and slap his belly and make him watch it jiggle.

You should first find out if he's aware of what kinda risks he's head toward. I have to admit though, I wouldn't really know what to say. It gets hard when you try to talk to someone when they are stubborn/thick-headed (That's coming from my experience, I'm not talking about your father.)

Show him the commercial with the sad and abused dogs that you see on TV all the time and be like, "Those dogs are how your organs feel dad..."

wait.

get support from as many family members as possible. older parents are more stubborn and won't listen to you at all.

talk to your family and setup a time in which you can all meet together and talk things out. maybe over a nice healthy meal.

if you have no relatively close family member and you're on your own then first compose a well thought out and light diet that you can present him when you tell him. remain calm, don't raise your voice and show your concern.

Either you die unhealthy or you die healthy. Either way, you're still gonna die. Just tell him how you feel tho.

I think many overweight people can agree on this - they don't care if their family wants them to lose weight. It's not proper motivation to lose weight. People who try to lose weight because that's what a loved one wants usually quit their workout and diet plan after a month. I've talked to a bunch of former overweight teen males, and do you know why they lost weight? To get girls. Everybody needs proper motivation. You have to find out what properly motivates him.

FYI It's not your feelings.

The internet isn't a good place to discuss personal/family issues, but if you were going to do it then there are forums better suited to this kind of thing. I don't think this is appropriate for a Nintendo forum, even though this is in the lounge.
