Wink Definition of ports and remakes

Ok, I'm a bit tired of people that is always brawling about if a game is a port or a remake.

Port:
When you have a program/game compatible with a system and want it to be on an other system. You just fix some issues with the port. (Often when you port games they get bugs on the new system that weren't on the older system)

Remake:
You can even remake a game to the same system if you want but the point is that a remake often has remastered graphics and audio or some extra content like mini games and extra secret dungeons etc.

Please correct any issue with the information!

You've pretty much nailed it, but tell me, how do we "correct" all those people who don't like ports or remakes?

Ports mostly alter the controls towards that platform also.

Just to point out, that other controls isn't exactly a remake automatically.

So what about all of those old games on the PSN and XBLA? I guess everyone of those are remakes eh?

Remakes are built from the ground up.
Ports aren't.

I like to follow the basic definitions.

^ This. Even though a game isn't directly a port, that doesn't qualify it to be a remake.

I think the OP should add in the third word: Reboot, which is the exact same game transferred to another system but with modified graphics, and/or features.

I've never that word used in that sense. Only in the sense of a franchise reboot, like Splatterhouse, Medal of Honor, Mortal Kombat or the upcoming Tomb Raider.
