Because I just opened my 3Ds yesterday and I was playing SM3DL and it looked like the monkey's fireballs at the end of world 1 were coming at me but it stopped at the screen. So my question is what does depth mean on the 3Ds and do you like the 3D effect?

Anyway, yes the 3D works for me quite well. And it is pretty cool.
But I don't use it very often. Only when looking at 3D photos or videos.

I can take it or leave it. Its cool to have. Some games use it well, some don't. I do I think it would have been easier to get more game developers on board, like with the original DS, if Nintendo just released the 3DS as a ds with updated graphics. 3D is really just a gimmick in my opinion and who knows, in time the 3DS could be as popular as the DS was.

Anyway, the 3DS isn't made for games to look like they're shooting out of the screen or anything like that. That's Hollywood garbage right there and it's also harder on your eyes. The 3DS creates a nice, subtle sense of depth that makes the games "feel" bigger. I'm glad that's the way they chose to go about it. I like it very much.

I lost an eye in an old-timey bare-knuckle boxing match a couple years ago, so the 3D doesn't work for me.

I use it to view pictures and videos in 3D like PixelKnot93 said, but I can't play a game with the 3D on for a long time because it irritates my eyes a little

I can see the 3d best at about half power, I hate holding it still for long periods of time though

The 3D effect is a distraction in some games. One is mario kart 7.

Stuff CAN be made to pop out of the screen... items in OoT: 3d's menu, for example.

Overall, I think the best uses of 3D are in games like Mario Kart 7. It adds depth that enhances the experience without you really noticing. 3D that's in your face, grabbing your attention all the time is the worst. That's just me, though.
