| There are numerous problems behind this. It has been confirmed that the employees can and do take copies home to test and play so they can "recommend" them to customers. Problem is, who is to say accidents do not happen? They can, and most likely do. Selling them as new is a point that is beyond fair. Especially for games that come with codes such as the Nintendo system games that allow you to register them on your Club Nintendo Account. The codes are sometimes missing, and then, if the booklet exists in the first place it too can be gone. If paying full price, do you not expect to unwrap the cellophane from the sweet gaming goodness yourself? Their price tag/barcode slapped on unceremoniously on the game's plastic sleeve, forever damaging the pristine condition of the case. Try and remove it and you risk damaging the case itself. Finally we come to their return policy. According to them, new, unopened games can be returned or exchanged within thirty days with a receipt. Opened games can only be exchanged for the same item within thirty days with a receipt. Finally, we come to used items, which can only be returned for a refund within the first seven days. After that, it can be exchanged for the same item during the original thirty day window. So...which is it? Where does the pre-opened & possible pre-played "new" games fit in? Isn't it perspective? Can we honestly say the game is new if it's been opened? Can we say it's been used if it's not been played, but opened? Is it fair to subject customers to a gauntlet just because of the "new" opened game policy? |

Why would you buy a new game from gamestop? I mean I do like gamestop, as unpopular as that is to say these days. Gamestop is good for finding older games and cheaper games . As for selling games, well ive never sold any games but I like to keep them for collectors purposes. However if your looking for a new game and you want to peel the plastic off why not go to walmart, best buy, target etc etc. ? The only time I buy new games from gamestop is when I preorder and im almost positive that pre ordered games still have the wrap on them.

If you buy from Gamestop online, this problem doesn't exists, or if you get the game within a certain time frame. They don't start that open the case bs until awhile after the game has been released. Every time I get a new game from them, it's still in the plastic.

Ugh! This happened to me at GameStop too. With New Super Mario Bros Wii. I took it back and got a different one. But i shouldn't have to do that. Honestly GameStop... how is it even possible to make that mistake? (Or was it even a mistake?)

It's not a mistake. If you buy new games after a set time from a physical Gamestop store, they take them out the case(for theft reasons). Buying from them online however, keeps the game in it's plastic as products are shipped from the warehouse. For example: I'm buying Super Mario 3D Land out the actual store, but because I'm getting it on release/within that "new" time frame, it won't be touched and will still be in the plastic.

There are two Gamestops around where I live. This almost happened to me on Monday when I bout DoA Dimensions. The first one I went to tried to sell me the new one and told me I had to get the case off the display shelf. So I went to the other one to see if they had it new and they did. I hate when they do that. I never buy those because I want a new game not a fake new game.
