Default Gaming Innovations and Whodunnit first!

I know a big point of conflict in the gaming community is 'who stole what from who.'

I didn't make this thread to argue about that.

I made this thread to share this article, that will maybe shed some light, and hopefully provide some entertaining.

6 'New' Gaming Innovations That Are Way Older Than You Think | Cracked.com

All I ask is that if you have to debate, don't do it in a stupid way, please. Things get nasty way too quick around here, and I'd like to encourage intelligent discussion, not 'I'm right your wrong' discussion. Thanks.

That's pretty neat. I actually had no idea the Wii wasn't the first motion control. x.x you learn new things everyday I guess...the Wii is more fun though

Did anyone seriously believe the Wii was the first game to feature motion control? I could easily name at least 5 things games that had motion control before the Wii. I mean the Eyetoy on the PS2 came out just a few years before and doesn't anybody remember the Power Glove? Or the DS was the first game to have a touch screen? I've seen games with touch screens since I was a little kid.

The Kinect was a major rip-off of the Eyetoy. Just sayin'.

Ripoffs/copying in the gaming world = Taking an old idea, improving it, and making it commercially viable.

some times people back then thought it was a gimmick but in this day and age they actually grow on us and now we see them as the norm and forget where they came from

More than just the gaming industry. This applies to almost everything, if there was no copying there would only be 1 company doing a lot of things creating a monopoly, and thy means much higher prices.

and I think it's funny that 2 of nintendo's recent "innovations" were done by them years ago.
Power glove came before Wii
Virtual boy came before 3DS
So they aren't new to gaming and aren't even new to nintendo
