Default Getting a laptop soon. Help me out.

Looking to get one in a couple weeks, and naturally I have zero knowledge on computers. Hoping to get one that would be decent for my Photoshop work and doubles as a semi-decent gaming PC. I have absolutely no idea how I would go about looking for one, since hardware details are like moonspeak to me.

I have a budget of like $1000-$1500 bucks, the more affordable the better.
Recommending Macs is a bannable offense.

With that price range you can get something that works at least semi-decent, if not better, for gaming, and even better for Photoshop.

I went to TigerDirect and Newegg and I've set the price range you've suggested. The results...

TigerDirect $1000-1500
Newegg $1000-1250
Newegg $1250-1500

If you find any laptop that interests you, feel free to show. I'll take a look at it and find out how powerful it is.

Not being a PC elitist here. I use them a lot in school but just can't get into the interface.
If there were really no better suggestions I'd go for it, but I'm hoping for a Windows computer if possible.

My laptop is a HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC(cant find a link) and can run skyrim on near max settings.
It was around $600-$700.

Looks like I poorly wrote my post. Because my Mac thing was a joke.

I've suggested Windows laptops, and I just edited my post to remove that Mac joke.

My bad.

I know this isn't a very good answer, but I'd suggest heading over to the Notebook Review forums. They have a great section where they help users find the laptop they're looking for.

The reason why I think you should go there and ask is because there are tons more users there which are going to be much more knowledgeable about laptops than the average user here. It's not anything against anyone. If you were to ask a detailed question about the 3DS on the Notebook Review forums, I'd ask you to come over here.

Alienware - M14X Laptop / Intel® Core™ i7 Processor / 14" Display / 8GB Memory / 750GB Hard Drive - Stealth Black - AM14X-5305SBK

HP - EliteBook XU078UT 14" LED Notebook - Intel Core i5 i5-2540M 2.60 GHz - XU078UT

These are both pretty good. If you want to play games, make sure you get a laptop with a dedicated GPU. A dedicated GPU has memory set aside for pure graphics processing, usually 1-3gigs.

If you are in that price range, don't settle for a laptop that doesn't have an i7 processor. Those are a must if you can throw down that much money. Newegg is a great place to go and if you are looking for graphic card reviews you can go to Notebook / Laptop Reviews and News - Notebookcheck.net They have really good reviews and FRAPS tests on GPUs. Also, try to see if you can get your hands on the laptop you want to purchase online if you are going that route. Sometimes certain models have a flimsy feel to them.

Good luck!
