Default Glasses-free 3D phone is here

The new HTC EVO 3D powered by Sprint is on sale for $199 with 2-year activation and features glasses free 3D and comes with built in 3D camera, 3D camcorder, and a free 3D demo of Spiderman. What does this mean for the Nintendo 3DS? What does this mean for for for the future of current 3D TVs? All I know is 3D without glasses is going to become the norm pretty soon and this phone is starting that trend.

HTC - EVO 3D Mobile Phone - Black (Sprint) - APX515CKT

HTC - Products - HTC EVO 3D

Of all carrier, why Sprint? Actually why make it exclusive to a carrier? But I think this won't be the "norm" for a while, but it is cool.

Wow that's pretty cheap for a smartphone, especially a 3D one. And I think by 2014 3D will be the norm.

No, that's about the standard price of a high end smartphone. With a contract anyway.

Oh is it. I thought they were on average about $600.

That's without a contract. With a contract they are a lot cheaper.

Better parallax technology?

Unfortunately all the reviews Ive read say that the phone is crap, and the 3D sucks. The only thing that phone is doing for 3D is putting it in a negative light.

It means next to nothing for 3DS because its only ONE phone, that will not have the mass market sales to make app makers actually design 3D apps specifically for the phone.
Boba2007 and Szayel like this.

Maybe once everyone else starts to get on the 3D bandwagon, Nintendo will start taking their sh*t more seriously.

Hopefully. At least the phone offers youtube 3d and has decent 3D movie playback software...something that the 3DS will most likely not have for a few more months.
