I was looking at computers, a laptop since portability is a must, and the particular one I was looking at had an Nvidia GeForce GT 540M with 1 GB of Vram dedicated to graphics.

I will be using this mainly for other things but I would like to do a little gaming.

It's a middle class graphics card. Performance in itself is decent, but much seems to depend on implementation. So the laptop its used in has quite a bit of influence on actual performance...

However. As you say you'd like to do "a little gaming", it should be good enough...

Ok thanks, that's helpful. If it can run decent games I am content. They don't have to be on high settings either. I was looking at a Sony Vaio F-series.

I had a quick look at the Vaio F-series.
Looks like it should work just fine...

Or at least an F-series Vaio can be configured to work just fine with that card.
Haven't looked at minimum configurations, though...
