Diesel is cheaper than unleaded in my coutry. It always been like that, I dont know why exactly.

I could've sworn diesel was usually cheaper, since it requires much less refining than gasoline.

It's because Diesel is less refined than unleaded and up. The more refined it is, the more $$$ it will cost you. Diesel = Low Octane Premium = High Octane Cars with higher compression ratios in the firing chambers require higher octane. Octane is the measure of resistance to burning.
