Former Chicago Bears WR Sam Hurd is possibly facing 40 years in prison for trying to establish a drug dealing network and buying cocaine and marijuana from an undercover agent, all I can say to that is, how dumb can you get? If you're a professional athlete why would you ever risk your life by selling drugs? I don't think Sam Hurd was a premiere athlete, but he was still making six figures a year to play in the NFL, why ruin that by trying to establish a drug dealing network? Is anyone else baffeled by this?

Not justifying what he did, but if you're talking about how much he was making in the NFL, what he was/would be making in the drug ring would make his football money look like chump change. So why did he do it? Well, there ya go.

In all seriousness though, it's just an athlete taking another risk. Just like when we all heard of Michael Vick and his dog fights. -_-
Do I approve? Nope! But famous athletes, business brokers, even educators can involve themselves in adventitious scandals so long as they see "profit", or something else at risk.

Which would also make it even crazier that he'd even consider dog fights for side money if even for that, but I guess he got a sensual thrill from seeing his dog(s) massacring another? I imagine he had these sorts of unfriendly tie-ins with other dog fighters much before he ever entered the NFL, but you can really never tell. :P
