Default I got a sketchy job interview

Yesterday I got a call from a woman that worked for a Marketing firm called Vector, located in Brookfield, Wisconsin. I was told that I was recommended by one of my friends that I knew who already worked there and that I could schedule an interview. There's only one problem, I never applied there and it seems way too good to be true. My friend that works there sells knives, but I'm thinking they'll try and talk me into a telemarketing or commission based job. Does anyone have an opinion on this situation?

I think you're absolutely correct on what type of job you'll end up working. I mean, I guess it could happen in other fields, but sales is the only field I can think of where someone would call you unsolicited and tell you to come in for a job interview because your friend mentioned your name. I'm willing to bet he gets a commission for every person he/she recommends and ends up getting hired.

Its a completely commissioned based job. If its selling knives there are two possible outcomes.
1. You will be setting up appointments over the phone.
2. You will be going into houses and doing demos for the knives.

I got suckered into this same thing for selling vacuums. Usually the product is very good and should sell easily, but they ask a rediculous amount of money for it so you have to be a good salesman to make a good income.

Keep away from Vector. I've known a couple of people that work there and they have said nothing but bad things.

If you need a job and money, take it.

I was also called to try to sell knives for a company! I declined instantly though. Weird...
