I hate abandoning forums

It's like something I do yearly, beacuse I don't have time to visit them and mantain my popularity XD

I have a lot of time here but almost no one knows me because I am relatively old and don't visit frequently.
Does it happen to you, too? If not, give me some firetrucking tips to mantain my life at forums.

I'm going to be the complete opposite of helpful and add on to your question instead of answering it: how do people even become popular on forums in the first place? Out of all the forums I've ever been on, no one ever seems to know who I am or care that I exist. How do you guys do it?

Don't be like me and change your username, and avatar every other week. I think it helps to keep those consistent so that people recognize you for those.

What you post also has a huge impact on your "popularity." It probably helps to have a good sense of humor and some strong wit. How you develop that is all up to you. I suppose the ChatBox could help you too, but I know a few members who rarely enter that place and are still held in somewhat high regard by the community.

You also don't need to be a complete asshat or ***** to gain popularity. Frankly, I find that approach cheap.

In specialized gaming forums, members are known by their peers for their knowledge of a certain subject, or their ability to argue with other members on the subject. And people are also known for their skill at a certain game.

But really, simply participating in community activity should get you going places. If you see a tournament being hosted, try participating. And if you're good, people might befriend you or seek to solicit advice from you. I won't guarantee that you will become "popular," but I can be sure that you won't be a complete nobody.

I used to be one of the most popular members here. I'm not sure exactly how I got popular, but then I started posting less, less and less and eventually lost whatever popularity I had on here. Well, I don't know, maybe some people still consider me one of the popular members. Oh well, I don't really care either way. I just post whenever I feel like it now.
