| Personally, I like ios more, imo iphone is the best smartphone, ipad is the best tablet, and itouch is the best portable game player (yes you heard me). Android looks FANTASTIC from what I've seen.

And your reasons for that are? Don't come in here with a claim but without evidence. Tell me why it's better.

@GwJumpman Why? all ios platforms are easy to use, great battery life, UI more easy to use, and... The App Store and iTunes: the app store has a large variety of apps espcially when it comes to games You have console games (COD Zombies, NOVA, Real Racing, Assassin's Creed) mmos ( Star legends, order and chaos) and casual fun games ( doodle jump, plants vs zombies, angry birds, fruit ninja)

Why? all Android platforms are easy to use, great battery life, UI more easy to use, and... The Android Store and ability to put music in however you want: the Android Store has a large variety of apps espcially when it comes to games You have basically the same games as IOS and more freedom with apps because of a lack of super strict guidelines to follow. Are you able to tether your phone to any computer in the vicinity with an app from the app store? I think not. |

It was about time someone posts this discussion. I lived with a 1st gen iPod Touch for 3 years, and a 4th gen iPod Touch for almost a year. This was before I got my first cellphone this summer, which is the Samsung Galaxy S II, an Android 2.3.3 phone. Since I got my phone, my iPod Touch is nothing more than my alarm clock, since I have an alarm clock that has an iPod dock. In other words, I prefer Android over iOS. First of all, I can put more than just app icons in my home screen. There are widgets. Sure, I can throw app icons, but I can also throw a custom clock, my calendar's next event, the current weather, a photo, a data usage counter and much more! I can also move a whole page in a single touch gesture. Second, I'm gonna talk about the apps. Of course, there isn't all of the iPhone's biggest games for Android. The games I miss since I've switched to Android are Infinity Blade, Dodonpachi Resurrection, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney and Tiny Wings. But all of the rest of my favorite apps are also available for Android, and some of them are even free! Ask me if one of your iOS apps is available for Android, and there are many chances I say Yes. Also, since there's a low (if not no) app-checking procedure, there's a bigger variety of apps. I don't even need to hack my Android to get an SNES emulator. In fact, an Android is like a legit jailbroken iOS device. Also, the esthetic bonuses are actually fun, and not gimmicks like that Cover Flow in the iPhone/iPod. Well, animated backgrounds are a gimmick IMO, but I can have a background that scrolls when I turn around the pages, which I love! Otherwise, this argument is not that big. After this, I love the notification bar. That's something we'll get in iOS 5. When I receive a text message, when something happens on Facebook and Google+, when I receive a new e-mail and when any of my apps has to notifiy me for something, the notification appears on the top of my screen, no matter what I do (except during a phone call and during games). I can also drag the bar down to see more details about the notifications. I can also enable/disable some features to save battery. I can't wait to see if iOS 5's notification bar will be at least as good as Android's. To finish this segment, I love the fact my phone has a microSD slot, so I can expand its memory. Then, all of the reasons below makes me feel that I'm bringing an actual pocket PC in my pocket, a feeling I didn't have with my iPod Touch. First, I can replace a lot of my cellphone's built-in apps by a third-party app. I can change my media players, my SMS app, my web browser, and more! The music player, web browser and file manager I'm using are third-party, because I prefer them over their built-in counterparts. Second, I can actually browse my cellphone's files, like in a computer! I can also delete, move, rename files as well. Third, iOS 5 will let you share things on Twitter from any app. That's good, yeah, but not only Android can do that, but it can share anything from any app to any app! I can share a YouTube video to Facebook, I can share a photo to Google+, I can send a cool link from my web browser directly in a text message, I can upload a photo to my Dropbox directly from the photo app... Fourth, something like that bloatware that is iTunes is not necessary to put stuff in an Android phone. You simply plug it in, and it acts like an USB external storage device. I love that! Fifth, I can download (and probably upload, but I didn't check that) anything from the web browser. No restrictions. Sixth and last, there are multiple Android phones, multiple Android tables and multiple Android media players. There are phones with physical keyboards. There are phones with bigger screens. There are devices that simply pwns the iOS devices in terms of power. My Samsung Galaxy S II is at least twice as powerful as the iPhone 4, and it costs a hundred dollars less! Thanks to that power, my games run very well, and the web browsing speed is pretty much the same as my computer's. I remember my 4th gen iPod Touch being slower in web browsing. So yeah, for me, Android >>>>>>>>> iOS, but I still think iOS is good. I mean, you pay more for an iOS device while you get less features than an Android device, and less power than the most powerful Android device. But, on the other hand, iOS is simpler, and does the job very well. If you're not a computer wizard, you still have more chances to enjoy iOS. Also, there are iOS apps I'd like to get in my Android while they aren't available, but it's a few. That was my big wall of text. If this thread was locked before I posted this, I'd be really, but really pissed. Quote:

NOVA, Assassin's Creed, Star Legends, Doodle Jump, Plants vs. Zombies, Angry Birds, Fruit Ninja and Order & Chaos are all available for Android as well. Just not COD Zombies and Real Racing. Also, the whole Angry Birds series is free, but ad-supported, but FREE! Last edited by GabCM; 10-01-2011 at 04:20 AM. Reason: Typo |

iphones are great for mobile gaming, but honestly i dont really enjoy many of the console games. nfs hot pursuit and dead space i found kind of boring on iphone. gta sucks, and infinity blade gets old after a while. they have a starfox like game but its kinda dry. a game i did enjoy was super monkey ball 2 which is good with motion controls. sega makes solid apps.
