Default Japanese Exchange

As the title suggests, I'm heading out on a Japanese International Highschool exchange in September. I just wanted to ask if anyone has been through and experience like this, and could possible help me out a bit. For example, what should I expect? Is it really as crazy as people say?

Thanks in advance.

Never been there as a highschool student, but I may be able to give you more general tips. Where are you headed, a big city or more of a smaller country town?

Wow, I wish I was in your shoes. I once knew a co-worker who lived in Japan for sometime. She said it was a pleasure to live there.

Well, I'm headed out to Sendai. Pretty sure you've heard of it in the news due to the tsunami and earthquake. In case you havn't heard, Sendai was the closest city to the epicenter and was the most heavily hit region.

Bassicaly, im headed out to a potential disaster zone. Although most of the damage will hopefuly be fixed by the time I arive.

I've hosted 2 Japanese exchange students, I have a bunch of friends who went to Japan for an exchange program, and I'll be going next year.

Um... I don't know how much you know about it or what you've heard. I think that the experience is different depending on the school. I've heard accounts from several different schools, and they're quite different.

Oh my, I don't know exactly how that earthquake will affect things.

I would say in general, Japan is not as crazy as people say. Just different. I would expect a culture shock to some degree, though not as bad as it would be with Tokyo or something. Oh, and make sure you like fish.

Still, I have no idea how the earthquake affected the city and its goings on. Good luck.

Thanks. Fortunately I love Japanese food, so I think I'll be alright for that. The modern city itself wasn't hit that hard, but the outlaying villages were completly wiped out. The school's power went out and some windows broke, so nothing major there.

Well, I'm going to be attending a private highschool if thats any help. I know that I'll be wearing a uniform, but I'm fine with that. (I'm an Air Force cadet.)
