Default Let's Fix It: Megaman Zero

the Megaman Zero series is revered as a great series in general. it's action, pacing, speed, and challenge is second to none on the entire Gameboy Advance Library.

however I believe this series has it's faults that to a point make it worse than the X series in general, I find that with simple tweaks this series can be brought up to speed and maybe even surpass the X series. discuss what you would change on the series to make it better I'll start off with:

-Do NOT activate enemies before the screen reaches them: in contrast to any other Megaman game the Zero series activate enemies before the physical screen reaches it's sprite, this leads to enemies attacking you at random or just plain running into you because they CAN see you before you ever see them.

this is a big problem specially when dealing with a game that is supposed to be fast paced action, in my experience most of the damage I ever recieved was because I was going so fast I could not react to said enemies running into me thus leading to lower rank and time, when doing ranked runs I had to resort to walking instead of dashing.

It's just a matter of reaction time, which you'll develop playing any Mega man game really, given enough time and practice.

My only grief is with Zero and Zero 2. The end bosses were very disappointing and anti-climatic. I'd scrap those bosses completely and add Weil as the replacement for both.

I found weil to be a horrible villain storywise. battlewise however is another tale.

as for reaction time that's beside the point, allowing enemies to activate and act before the player has even the chance to see it is bad design overall. this could be fixed with an expanded field if vision something capcom could've done on the DS collection. or like the gameboy megaman games which had an even more constricted screen just activate enemies when they come into the screen. if a game 10 years its senior can fix that simple problem why can't the zero series do it?

Making the enemies activate only after they enter you field of vision would simply make the game easier and slower paced. Why? Because you dictate how the enemies behave. If an enemy becomes active only when you see it, then you can easily kill it without it being able to do anything really. The general bogies in the Zero series are complete pushovers, the only way they can actually ever land a shot on you is because they have the element of surprise via their ability to react to you off-screen.

exactly, instead of making the enemies actually smart or at least putting some thought into their attacks they have them jump at you out of nowhere, this is just plain bad and lazy design.

I think expanding the screen(field of vision) would be overall better then, it would be specially helpful on boss battles.

I wouldn't really change anything.. except maybe the difficulty of bosses.. they're generally really really really difficult

I've not played much Megaman besides the original format and Battle Network. I'm looking forward to the "demo" version that is coming around eventually to the eShop though. My only concerns in general is that the new games story will be a continuation of the previous games? I'm the type that likes to know the full story etc and play the previous games in the series before taking up the new one. Which I won't do in this case however if it is that way.

Likewise with the Megaman Battle Network Series. I really loved the story's and things that happened etc but only played to the third. So if a new continuation came to the 3DS I dunno of is get it as I'd miss some of the story in the middle!

I like the Zero series a bit more than X. Hell... I think I like it more than the core Mega Man games. Don't "fix it", just give us more, Capcom!
