I thought the pixelated jolly roger was a nice touch.


I decided to go with Solar Striker for the game. Played around in photoshop, and printed out a nice detailed in game scene for the screen. Tomorrow, I finish gutting the back and start creating the hard foam liner.

I think I seriously may create a how-to. There is little room, but unlimited options. If all goes right, I am going to have slots for games 6 - 8, and a pocket for the AR cards.

Strongly, considering making it a psuedo cradle. Depends how much i want to put in it. So far, here is the monetary breakdown:
Gameboy: $3.00 (Fleamarket Haggle)
Jolly Roger Liner: $5.00 for 1 yard
Foam for Liner: $6.00
Solar Striker Prints: $0.86
Solar Striker Game: $4.00 Shipped

Time invested as of the quarter mark: 4 Hours.

I am obsessive compulsive so time results may vary. Keep in mind I run a small business modding vintage gaming gear, so I have all the tools already...like my beloved Dremel and Xacto knives.

If you add it up, it is a smidge bit expensive, but if you're like me, it is beyond worth it just to be able to say that you did it, and you did it better.

I'm mildly interested in this, could you detail what your mod is? I've done my share of mods(adding a gba light to a gameboy color is my proudest moment ) and I'm always open to new ideas.

I seen a small vid where a guy gutted a gameboy and threw some hinges on it and called it a 3DS case. I said I can do better and my wife said, "Why don't you?", and I was off. I have a mildly successful small business doing things with retro gaming gear so, I am constantly thinking of ideas. I improved over the original idea ten fold, I believe, just in planning.

I'll post update pix and beginning pix in the morning! We'll do this right.
