I bought my 3ds yesterday, which was great since it felt like I didn't miss out anymore. Anyway, here's what happened:
Around 5 hours ago, I was playing that Street Fighter game for the 1st time, it was great, but then I got the BSoD in...... 5 minutes. I thought I just got unlucky and that it would be ages until that happened again, so I resetted. Anyway, so I played for 20 minutes, I started to notice the 3ds overheating (it was charging at the time), which is normal, but this soon? Anyway, but then it started to get really warm, right to the point where it was getting too hot to hold, I quickly finished the fight and turned it off and left it on the table. I made some coffee (I love coffee), I was walking back to the sitting room, I could smell something, and I saw a bit of smoke. When I walked in (I was the only one at home at the time), it was sitting there on fire. O___O
It wasn't huge or anything, I was surprised though, I quickly took a mug from the kitchen and doused it out with water. I unplugged it, and I was there for 5 minutes on my own thinking "holy crap". Knowing how stupid I am, I tried to turn it on soon afterwards and it was fine, but it was sort of damaged. I turned it off quickly just in case.
Nobody knows about this, I might report it to my Gamestop or something, I don't know.

Oh, and I know it's 31st March, not the best time for this thread, but I really wanted to let this out....

Contact Nintendo, they'll give you a new one. Exploding handhelds generally fall under legal liability.

Just gonna say if you have any more problems you can return to nintendo for a refund of a new one
