Default My finished LoZ: MM cosplay.

I'm a cosplayer, and I just recently went to the convention at which I wore my most challenging cosplay yet. Fierce Deity Link. It's the reason I went on a huge 3DS forum hiatus, as this site is very distracting at times! So, I thought I would ask what you guys think!

This one looks silly because I was moving my arm when the picture was taken.

This isn't me, but there was a great Skull Kid cosplayer there that I NEVER SAW somehow. I DID get to meet the girl though, but she had changed into her Saria costume by then. Regardless, she was awesome, I totally want to keep in touch with her in some way.

First pic pre-Photoshop:

(Skip this paragraph if you don't want to hear me brag) A TON of people asked to take my picture, which is amazing, because I'd only gotten a couple picture requests in the past, and never found them on people's galleries. I couldn't walk a mere ten steps without someone pulling out their camera, calling out my character's name, getting hugged/glomped, hell, there were even two times I was stopped so the person could bow down to me. It was pretty amazing.

I made the armor out of .020" industrial styrene sheeting, and gave it a black airbrushing over the hammered and metallic silver to simulate weathering. The sword was carved in one piece using rigid insulation foam, and then coated with fiberglass to strengthen it up. Basically, I made a sword-shaped surfboard, cause that's how surfboards are made, apparently. Anyway, I used satin moss-green and some bluish color, followed by more airbrushing for a weathered appearance. The fabric was bought from a crafts store and sewn into a hat and "tunic" (really just sleeves and a bottom since the armor covers it). The gauntlets and boots are made out of vinyl, which simulates leather. My friend's sister's boyfriend sprayed my hair, which was easy, but painful to my lungs. My friend Rebecca painted my face, and did an excellent job! As far as details, note the rivets and belt near the shoulders, the jewels, and the gold trim (the HARDEST part, by far.)

A couple things didn't go exactly as planned:
  • My sticky color hair spray made my hair tangle up underneath the open layer, so it wasn't as "compressed" as I wanted it to be.
  • Since it was my first time fiberglassing, I made the mistake of not using enough resin, so my sword is a bit rough, but I plan on coating it a couple more times in the future to smooth it out, followed by a new paint job.
  • On the last day of the con, my armor started to fall apart, but that's okay, it didn't show up in any pictures.

So...yeah, it took a while to make. Sure, it's not on the same level as well-known cosplayers like PikminLink, but I think I did a pretty good job. I plan on wearing it next year as well, with some improvements of course.

That looks awesome, dude. One thing I think you should have done, is paint your eyelids white and have your eyes closed for the pictures. It would suck for you not being able to see though. xD

Thanks ^^ I actually wanted to do that, but it ended up being way too troublesome and time-consuming. Perhaps I'll buy some contact lenses to get a true, realistic effect

Thanks to everyone else!

It's not easy to Z-Target in such a crowded area, but other than that, I managed to zap a few people into oblivion
