So I was wondering if anybody could help me with a little dilemma. For some reason my laptop wont download the new ios5 so I'm would wondering if I update it on a friends computer will it let me put back in all the data from my own computer?

Plug it into a computer with itunes, sync it and it'll tell you there's an update.

I've tried that and my computer just gives up 20% through. Since i have it backed up if i update somewhere else can i put back all my info through my comp?

When you say "the new iOS 5", do you mean iOS 5 itself or do you mean updating iOS 5 to iOS 5.0.1, which came out a week or so ago? If you mean the first one, I would try updating iTunes first and then try to download just iOS, without your phone attached. If you mean the newest update, just do it right through your phone.

I have this same problem. my iphone is still on on of the 3 software versions and wont update.
