| 1. Physical Media -Yup its 2011 - and ppl still like to buy Physical games - its called Walmart, its called Amazon, its called Gamestop - and Apple had no presence. 2. New game development - want to list Ios exclusive games vs Nintendo exclusives? - No? I don't blame you, I bet you would rather bring a paint ball gun to Custer's Last Stand! 3. Game Quality - I am a funny guy -- I will pay more for quality. Unlike the car industry, which cannot support middle and upper class cars, and everyone rides mass transit and bus to work every day - oh wait..... 4. Buttons/D-pad/Analog = Apple does not have those. Capacitative Failure. Feel Free To pile on - I am not a fanboy, so don't be an apple fanboy! Steve Jobs stepped down anyhow....... |

1) There will always be physical media. But there will always be a (continuously growing) strong demand for digital content. So this is a non-issue. 2)Nintendo has great exclusives, that's a given. But so does iOS, vastly affordable and addictive and enjoyable ones. Both aimed at totally different markets, with no intention of competing with eachother to begin with. So again, non-issue. 3)Game quality. They both have their fair share of good games as well as shovel ware. 4)Yes. But they're not really attempting to port/create any games that would better benefit from tactile input versus a touch screen. So at this point, it doesn't matter yet. This whole phone versus "dedicated" portable gaming system debate is really really old and exhausted. |

You must remember, Apple isn't trying to make gaming devices. They make multifunctional computers, phones, and music players. Gaming is just an afterthought on their devices. Nintendo, on the other hand, is a gaming company that makes devices primarily dedicated to gaming, hence all the extra functionality specifically made for gaming.

Yep. And Chevrolet does what Nintendon't. It's not a valid argument to compare two companies that specialize in two separate things. *deltes my old posts since you quoted. I don't want my post count to go up from arguing* |

Probably because the rising popularity of ebooks and, in the realm of games, Steam. There's nothing physical about that and it's a thousand times more convenient. And I'd wager more popular among a certain demographic. Last edited by Marina; 08-30-2011 at 01:07 AM. |

I don't understand the point of this thread. A company does things that another doesn't? 1. Apple allows people to buy music from their online store. Nintendo doesn't sell music on their store. 2. Apple allows anyone with 99 bucks to buy the dev kit and develop for their online store. Nintendo doesn't. 3. Apple sells computers. Nintendo doesn't. See? There are many things Apple does that Nintendo don't. And that's because they do completely different things and its ludicrous to compare the two. I'm locking this thread. |
