Angry Oh great - PSN still hackable..... : (

I regret to inform you :

New PSN Hacking Threat Besets Sony | Edge Magazine

It would seem that Sony's rebuilt security measures have already been bypassed, according to reports. An exploit on Sony's password reset page allows people to change users' passwords using only a PSN account email and date of birth - both of which were stolen in last month's hacking attack.
The hack was first demonstrated to game website Nyleveia, and has subsequently been verified by Eurogamer which claims to have seen video evidence. Following the revelation, PSN sign-in was taken offline on a number of Sony's sites and the password reset website is also now down.

Sony - why?

you were in such a hurry to be E3 weren't you?

As we suspected, especially after the Rueter's secutiry find, they came back up too fast. They're gonna get sued up their butts if they don't fix this, and fast. One of the biggest parts of the lawsuits was Sony's lack of security savy.

Woah, woah, woah! Slow your roll, playa. It's an exploit not a hack. It has nothing to do with PSN's security.

Well, technically they are still able to be hacked...so his title rings true, just not exactly in the context of his actual post :P

luckily it's got little, if anything to do with the PSN on consoles. it's specifically the website that's being affected, from what I'm hearing. and that's only if the person already knows your email and b-day. which, given the info that they had access to during the breach, is a possibility but unlikely. sony says they've already fixed the issue that was being exploited and this particular exploit is no longer possible but haven't said yet when they'll turn the website back on. it was only an issue on the .com website, and according to them the console PSN hasn't been affected and people can still change their passwords if they want via the PS3 connection.

Its just a exploit lol. Microsoft would go bankrupt if every exploit in windows would get a lawsuit, lets not even talk about mmo's or other account PC game solutions that have account problems all the time.

I moreso am refering to the Reuter's security find that I posted a few days ago. They pretty much said Sony's security was still way to easy to bypass. I really hope they know what they are doing. I would hate to see anything bad happen to them again. So much money has been lost already...and while money is worthless, less money=cuts=less employees.

another thing to remember is that they're more than likely still working with the security experts and will continue to do so for quite some time. no way would they cut them loose so quickly after a fiasco of this magnitude. so whatever is found in the short term, by them or by outside miscreants, they will continue to work on it and fix it and make it so it can't happen again.

Sony's security will always sucks donkey balls. The only one that doesn't is Microsoft and Apple solutions. As they are software experts to the max. Sony isn't a software company. The best thing they can do is hire a outside company that has somekind of AAA+ name and let them deal with it. And even then its impossible to hold hackers outside.
