My lunch must've been too small, because I realized I've been trying to decide on the perfect dessert to make or go out and buy. Unfortunately, my favorite dessert is seasonal: tart gooseberry pie. Even worse, most stores in the U.S. don't even seem to know what a gooseberry is, let alone carry them. They're hard to find even at farmers' markets.

Great, now I'm drooling.

Pie versus cake? I'm more in line with savory and bready stuff, and so I go with cake.
