| I'm wondering for a number of reasons, one is that Pokemon is supposedly kid-friendly. You guys think that this game has its morals right? Last edited by Rhyder; 05-30-2011 at 03:26 AM. |

Its the same thing as having a pet. Except the are allowed to fight!!! I just think everything has a bad point of view depending how you look at it. |

Stop listening to N. Pokemon need us as much as we need them. Pokemon grow with us and we grow because of Pokemon.

Well, they fight. It's not that bad. I use to play them a lot and there wasn't really anything bad.

Well in terms of the games the Pokemon will spend most of their time in a pokeball and only really come out to fight but in the anime Ash and some other trainers do live happily with their Pokemon doing things other than just battling; well some are stored away in a computer or something but some of them live happily with their trainers. I wouldn't say it's slavery as the Pokemon tend to enjoy battling with other Pokemon, they aren't just ordered by their trainer against their will; by them being treated well and taken care of by their trainers they grow to love each other and form a bond and therefore enjoy doing things like battles for them. |

Pokémon, cock fighting for kids! Think about it, you force animals to fight until they are unconscious. It's evil. I'm joking

I was also just reading the description of "What are Pokemon?" in the instruction book and it says; "Humans and Pokemon have lives together in harmony for ages. Nevertheless, there are still numerous mysteries surrounding them. In order to find out more about these creatures, many scientists-such as Professor Juniper of Nuvema Town-have dedicated their lives to Pokemon research." That's most of what the instruction book says. Sooooo, how is researching and battling Pokemon with other Pokemon "living in harmony" with them? Hey, maybe I'm wrong, maybe I don't know the fully story behind it. If I'm missing some stuff, would anyone mind to explain please? Last edited by Rhyder; 05-30-2011 at 12:29 PM. |

lol Keep playing the game, I know it kind of hangs a lampshade on the issue (Lampshade Hanging - Television Tropes & Idioms), but it kinda explains that Pokemon enjoy the fighting and they wouldn't be happy doing anything else... That's only in the game's universe, in the real world that would just be somebody making up some bs to legalize animal abuse, so it's however you wanna see it.

Master concept Another attack made, one of the most common ones, is that it encourages kids to become masters. Now, perhaps I am just stupid, but I do not understand this point at all. Yes, master can have negative implications. That does not mean the term itself is negative. A person is a master of Pokemon in the same way they are the master of a pet. Being the master of a dog or a rabbit or something, is that evil? Playing 'god'? I doubt it. A Pokemon Master is someone who is good at what they do; they have a good technique and understanding of the Pokemon they base their career around. Pokemon like to battle. Masters of Pokemon are not evil. Pokemon LIKE having masters, generally speaking. It gives them a sense of purpose and belonging. What's more, it gives them the opportunity to develop their strengths and abilities, and to prove themselves against others. The Pokemon masters are those with good skill, who work well with their Pokemon. Honestly, what is wrong with that? I looked up 'master' in the dictionary. The definition I think most fits 'master' in the context of Pokemon Master is a combination of "one who has ownership over something" and "an expert". This ownership is not some possessive thing. If Pokemon hated their treatment, they could easily revolt against it. They are powerful enough. I also read this; The show is full of morals. The main character helps anyone who has problems. Some lessons I can think of that are projected, either through a particular episode or the series in general are not to judge a book by its cover, to help people out, to value friendship, to be loyal, to be kind to animals, to love your enemies, to try your hardest, that real fighting is bad, that to have goals is a valuable thing, etcetera.
