| Then Windows 8 was unveiled, it seemed very promising and was amazed at what Microsoft actually achieved and produced something which the iPad should have been. I've used tablets before and the whole idea of post pc was mainly that these current gen tablets would take over. It's hard to explain but if you look at how Android and iOS are they're just one application loading systems pretty much (android keeps them on), you would view things on a tablet in a more simplified way than on a PC or laptop, it was not really a computer, if people understand where I am coming from. When Windows 8 was announced it truly mixed what makes a computer a computer and a tablet and tablet. It's a tablet but yet again its a computer, if people understand what I mean, then that just means the computer aspect still hasn't gone yet even with tablet/slates being more popular, intel and oems decide to make ultrabooks which are really light and compact. Who would have thought to use a laptop made of magnesium honeycomb (material used on the galaxy tab and SII i think), which is light as a tablet but more powerful. What makes this more intriguing is that laptops are going to be tablet/slates, currently tablets are just slow low processing devices, but with processors like intel haswell, it will allow laptops to be energy efficient like tablets. This month has changed my mind as to what the future of devices are going to be, with windows coming to arm and ( I see it like this but you probably see it the other way), laptops/ultra books becoming slates in terms of energy efficiency, this could be a game changer in the portable market. However what happens next, we're currently going to the 22nm process (i believe) and atoms are about 4-8 nm (some one correct me), there's quantum computing but that's ages away. So discuss, do you think PCs are going and why and what is your opinion on this whole Post-PC idea.

| I think trying to predict where PC's are going is an insane venture. The only thing I'm sure of is that there will be change.
