![]() Source: vgchartz.com When we heard about PS Vita price, lots of people seems to be very happy but for certain people for example in UK/Europe (and probably in Australia as well), it's a nightmare. "Here in the United Kingdom, things tend to be expensive. Part of that is due to the abnormally high VAT (sales tax) rate of 20% - sales tax must be included by law in all quoted prices. However, in certain cases, even ignoring the inclusion of sales tax, we are charged disproportionately large amounts of money for products that are far cheaper abroad. Electronics companies are particularly notorious for this." Quoted from the article. We have known that PS Vita is going to be priced USD249 (WiFi Model) in US, while it's going to be £249 in UK(USD399 according to current currency converter). The author of this article used the most renowned game seller for each country as the sources, GAME in UK and GameStop in US. The price differences between Microsoft and Nintendo products is not that much. However, the price of PS3 in UK is more expensive then in the US and PS Vita is going to follow the same pattern despite the fact that £1 = USD1.6. Should Sony start charging fair prices in UK and probably outside US as well? (The same case could be applied to Nintendo 3DS in Australia which is more expensive than the 3DS in US as well, don't forget that in certain country, the price of 3DS is even more expensive). Do you think that Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft should charge fair prices from now on? Please leave your comment below... |

Wow, I was surprised that the Xbox 360 is cheaper there. So the 3DS is cheaper than the PS Vita in Europe? Good news for the 3DS in one region I guess.

Considering you can purchase 3DS for £175 from Tesco (but if I am not mistaken GAME were selling 3DS for £210-220), then £249 for PS Vita is not cheap at all. Though I am still not sure about the price in Australia, it's either has similar price with 3DS or it will be more expensive than 3DS. |

Who cares, just import it. It doesn't have a regional lock.

In the case of 3DS games, it's even worse if you import it since you can't use the Nintendo club points (Only for those who wants to get it) |

Sorry for bump but came across this whilst googling the US price of Vita. Do these people not understand exchange rates? They are obviously oblivious to the fact that currencies mean different things. How the hell does 250 dollars mean they have to put it at 250 pounds. Besides. Wouldn't that mean you have to import every game because of regional codes?

Exactly. Everything over here in the UK is going to cost more. It's 250 dollars in America. 230 odd pounds here. That makes it around 300 dollars. It's unfair that its more expensive here. It should be equal. See. This is what happens when you let japan do things. When an AMERICAN company makes a console it makes it near enough the same. 3DS here are 150 pound. America - 169 dollars. Big difference. Moral of story. Want something fair, let an american do it. |

iMac 21.5 or 27 Inch - Buy a New iMac Direct - Apple Store (UK) I beg to differ. Just look at every product and you'll see. But I agree with you that the Nintendo 3DS (Then) was overpriced in UK. |

At least Sony gave a RRP. Nintendo hid behind a bad EU law because they were price-fixing all during the 80's and 90's. It's better for me, as a consumer to have an idea of the price. I disagree with the EU that it encourages price-fixing. If anything it gives you a base price to work from when you shop around at different retailers. |
