| On the plus side, it's a massive discount. I also would be getting a Blu-ray player in the process, free online (if PSN ever gets fixed), and the ability to play The Last Guardian when it comes out. There's also a few exclusives I've missed, 3D capability if I ever get a 3D TV, multimedia, etc. Here are my reservations: 1. I really don't feel like spending $200 right now. I just bought some other stuff (including the 3DS) and I really don't want to blow my entire tax refund on random stuff. 2. There aren't many games I want for it. I already have a 360 and PC, so pretty much any multiplatform game for the system that I'd want I already have. I mean, there's some exclusives that I'm sure I'd enjoy, but nothing worth shelling out hundreds of dollars for. Fact is, I really don't need another console, and if it weren't for blu-ray I wouldn't even be considering it. 3. While I'd like to get a blu-ray player, I don't even have a 1080p display (TV is 720p) and my movies actually look pretty darn nice with the 360's upscaler. I want to get a blu-ray player since there are movies I'd like to have an HD copy of, but it's not something I want to shell out hundreds of dollars for *right now*. 4. The big discount *could* be because of an impending price drop or hardware revision. The coupon expires before E3, so I'll have to decide before I can find out. 5. Related to 1,2, and 3: If I buy one now, I definitely wont want to spend a bunch of money on games, blu-ray movies, and accessories (like additional controllers). I will have literally nothing to do with it. 6. If I do get a few games for it over the next few months, I wont really have time to play them anyway. So, I'm curious to hear some opinions. Is it worth it? Should I just wait and see what happens at E3? Just buy it and sell it at a profit? Maybe I should get one, leave it in the box, and sell it/return it after E3? Forget the PS3 altogether, and just grab a cheap blu-ray player? What do you think? |

Believe it or not, I was in a similar situation myself. I was a content Xbox 360/Wii owner, and while I wanted a PS3 eventually, I didn't want to spend the money. However, Best Buy had a deal where if you bought a 160 Gig PS3, you got a $100 coupon. I also happened to have had some refund money coming in, so I decided to pony up for it. I'll be honest, I sometimes regret it, I look at it and I'm like, "This wasn't really necessary..." The Blu-Ray seemed cool, but honestly, I've only seen one movie on it...Blu-Ray is expensive and really isn't worth the money it costs over a standard DVD player that gives the same basic functions, just not as pretty or as packed with random stuff. As for exclusives, I am the same. There was certainly some cool ones, but in the end, they weren't really worth it to me to spend so much on another system. That said, I wanted one to begin with for Team Ico Collection and The Last Gaurdian. Adding that on top of your own personal time constraints and money worries, and I'd honestly say you probably would regret buying it. However, with that said, that's certainly a deal you have there, and the PS3 is a nice system. You may not feel the same as I did. You might not regret it at all, or you might fully regret it. Again, taking my similar thoughts about my purchase and your worries, I'd say don't buy it. |

I got a coupon sent to me too. I'm having the same dilemma I was considering getting a PS3 a while ago- mainly to play the multiplatform titles that I've missed as a Wii owner. But my family has recently bought a new PC and I'm pretty sure it can handle the particular games I want to play so.... I'm not really motivated to buy a PS3 right now. Even with the discount. In the end, I think it all depends on the number of PS3 exclusives you want to play and how badly you want to play them. I think the Last Guardian looks great and all but one game is not enough to justify buying a $200 console for so I'm going to stick with the Wii, 3DS, and PC. It may be different for you, of course. |

Id say go for it. Why? Theres a bunch of eclusives you might love, like uncharted, infamous, Little big planet, killzone, last guardian AND the shadow of colossus/ico collection, the sly collection, god of war(s), gran turismo, ratchets, overall, some amazing games. But if you're a happy 360/PC owners, well then buy it and sell it (LOl) |

Remember that you probably won't be getting all the desired games at once, and you may end up deciding you'd want other particular games later on. I say get it, get the games you want, continue to get other games over time if you want, and if you just don't like it, don't keep it. There are a TON of titles, exclusive and multi-platform, to choose from now, and with even more around the corner, skipping out entirely would be a rather silly choice in my opinion.

With the exception of Last Guardian, are there any reasons why you DO want one? Just looking at your list there, you sure don't sound like someone who wants a PS3. That being the case, maybe it's better if you did pass on it. Whatever the case, $200 is a great deal on a new PS3. Even if Sony dropped the price around E3, they wouldn't drop it $100. If they released a new version, it wouldn't make the current model obsolete (though all I can see them doing at this point is bundling Move in with a new version, not doing yet another revision). But again, you don't sound like you want one, so why bother? |

I'd say save it for the Nintendo Stream which will likely have Blu-Ray and it's more powerful with better graphics. And you also get hardcore games + Nintendo games.
