Exclamation Retro Studios' Mystery Nintendo HD Project and Other Type Hits

Retro Studios one of the first studios to have Wii development kit, working on “a project everyone wants us to do” | Wii HD Rumors

So what do we all think this game is going to be?

According to Emily Rogers, this is NOT Metroid. Just thought I'd shoot that dream down now before we went any further.

While we're speculating, the following companies also have a dev kit:

Capcom
Konami
Namco Bandai (Namco)
Sega
Square-Enix

Rockstar is probably accounted for with Grand Theft Auto V, but I'd like to know what game you all think the remaining companies on the list are also working on. What game do you want them to work on?

EA, Ubisoft and Activision also have kits, but I don't think we want to speculate over them. It's companies like that who damaged the 3DS' image at launch.

I will laugh out loud if Square-Enix finally releases that Final Fantasy VII remake everyone's been crying about for the "Wii HD".

It would be amazing if it is an exclusive Kinvara. Honetly however the title Retro is working on is probably: F-Zero, Star Fox, or another Donkey Kong.

@Cody: Square turned its back on the N64 in favor of the PS1 as the platform of choice for FFVII. Things would be at full circle if the remake came to a Nintendo console. I find the thought amusing.

I can't wait for Retro's next game though. They have an excellent track record.

What I want is Kingdom Hearts 3 and if the wii HD is more powerful than the 360 and PS3 it could end up being pretty awesome. Idk if square enix would do that though. I think kingdom hearts could be a PS3 or (at the rate things seem to be going) a PS4 exclusive.

Anything can happen. If I remember correctly, Final Fantasy was exclusively on Nintendo's consoles until the N64 generation.

Yah I remeber when that happened. In my last post I was basically saying it would be funny if square did release a FFVII remake and it turned out to be a "Wii HD" exclusive. (just clearin' that up for you). I was on Gonintendo and people were talking about Retro making a Zelda game, that to me wouldn't work I perfer Zelda is made by the Zelda Team.

This wouldn't really surprise me. They had Wii devkits in 2005, and MP:C released in '07. It would make sense to see something from them in 2013-14.

While on one hand, the idea of them working on a game like Star Fox doesn't excite me, I can just imagine how good it would look. Retro's crack team of artists given full control over a space combat game, and in HD. Damn, we need a drooling smiley.

I'm glad you brought up the appearance of Star Fox.

If a Star Fox is made for this graphically-capable system, I want it to look like this:

That's right. The style of the SNES box art and promotional materials. Not just like it, I mean spot-on recreation.

The visuals would be detailed enough to get the attention of those looking for awesome graphics, but it would still retain a distinct artstyle that will last in appeal well after its time (much like Wind Waker). I’ll give you one more similar picture to stimulate your imagination. It’s not Star Fox, but it reminds me of the above picture.
