Sony has announced that they have begun work on the PS4, but they believe that the PS3 can survive for another five years. What are your thoughts on this?

PS2 is still selling and thats after what? 11 years or something?.
when the ps4 gets out, the ps2 gets cut off and the ps3 is going to fill in on the ps2 place.

ps2 sold still 45 million of devices while the ps3 was out.

so yea i agree with it, if ps4 releases in 2013 ( which is again 2 year later ) the extra 3 year support of the ps3 seems to be in place for sure after ps4 launch.

Its basically the same for 3DS and DS systems. releasing the 3DS isn't making them stop producing DS systems directly. they probably will go on for a few more years.

When the price drops, the PS3 will be a very good console.

Um, work started on the PS3 in 2002. And the PS2 lasted a lot longer than five years.

Companies are always working on next iterations of consoles for a long time, they can't just come up with new technology a year before release and be done with it. Didn't development on the 3DS start right after the Lite was released?

dont really care stopped supporting Sony after PS2, now I am all Nintendo. Sony could burn to the ground and use the smoke for communicating in old west traditions lolz :P

considering it costs ppl in South Africa $570 US dollars for a ps3 u can see why its failing here lol and only $280 for the Xbox.

oh and the ps3 with the 320gig hdd is $620 US dollars £430 UK pounds.. <--- if that doesnt qualify as Sony on their high horse then i dont know what is :P

What's all this high horse nonsense? The PS2 lasted for a LONG time. Sony will probably stop supporting the PS2 but keep making the PS3 once the PS4 releases.
