Thoughts?

They look cool, but I will always consider sony as copycats.

I sense troll bait from Pony man already, I will avoid this thread and others should too. He already started copycat comments! "Pony's gonna troll".

My thoughts are tablets are oversized, overpriced smartphones that need to die soon. I love apple but I hate how they started the tablet craze. Yes I know tablets existed before apple made one, but they weren't nearly as popular. Then came along the iPad and BOOM! A once almost dead (for a good reason) industry is now one of the fastest growing.

How so? What have Sony 'copied'? You could say they've copied a load of stuff loosely, in the same way you could say that about Nintendo and Microsoft and just about anything today

My thoughts exactly. What's more, they are very fragile and I prefer regular keyboards. I'd rather get a netbook or even better, a laptop.

I'll consider buying a tablet the minute one comes out with a color, daylight readable display with a fast enough response time for video playback. At that point, it will do something my laptop can't (use it outside), and might actually be worthwhile.

Until then, I see them primarily as toys.

A netbook is tons better than a tablet. Cheaper and significantly more powerful.

I have seen $800 tablets with 1GHz processors, I have also seen $279 netbooks with 1.66GHz processors.

Best of all is you have a full computer OS so when you browse the Internet you get the full Internet, not crappy mobile Internet. And better yet you are given a lot more internal memory on a netbook. iPad: most you can get is 64GB, notebook: you can get 250GB

Tablets are just basically big smartphones, but the difference is smartphones are wayyyy more portable
