So yeah, its almost that time of the year

Well, what do you think about Christmas? Do yu like it or hate it?

I like Christmas cause its the day of the year i eat the most, i dont get presents but i have a cool time with family....

I dont like all the nonsense and consumerism around it, i dont think spending lots of money are actually relevant to it...

Not trying to start a flame war, but I dislike it when "some" folks act like they own the spirit of Christmas and try to force a "certain belief" down your throat. Granted, the roots of Christmas have been diluted quite a lot in the consumerist 21st century, but then again, you don't see Native Americans complaining on Thanksgiving.

On the bright side, I still like Christmas because I get nostalgia trips thinking about all those old Lego sets I gotten years and years ago.

Errr...I wasn't aware that Thanksgiving started as a purely Native American holiday and has been stripped of that original meaning by money grubbing corporations and the masses. 0_o Poor comparison.

Anyway, this thread is so going to result in a flamewar. The mods don't allow discussion of religion on the forums and this thread is about what people do and don't like about a religious holiday that has been "consumerized". Nothing good can come of this, as we already see in the second post. Please........kill this thread.

This time of the year is a little hard on my family, so you can just call me the Grinch. We've had two major deaths in the family a few years ago and they were both on the 17th (a year apart). It's only my grandmother, my mom, and I here so it's always a pretty quiet time anyway.
What I do enjoy, however, is the fact that our Christmas tree is black and totally awesome. We decorate it all in purple and it's always gorgeous looking. That and I'm an only child so I get spoiled ROTTEN. Oddly enough, this year seems to be my best haul ever... but I won't brag :>

What I love about Christmas: Prezzies, prezzies and MOAR PREZZIES! I also enjoy when my cat goes into super-hyper-crazy-matrix mode due to the rather large amount of shiny baubles on our Christmas tree.

What I dislike: The awkward/boring/overall sucky 5 hours or so at my Christmas family lunch when I have nothing to talk about with anyone, due to my being the only person in my family that is a nerd:/

Anyway, in my opinion, Christmas stopped being a religious holiday ages ago, even though some people still go on, and on, and on about it.

I really don't like how everywhere I go christmas music is playing. :x

I love christmas because of the happy, cosy and nostalgic feel everyone have. I also love the cold, dark and glittery winter nights I associate with it and all decorations... too bad this year seems to be one of those nasty slimy-rainy christmases. ;_; screw you, global warming.

What I like about Christmas is the gifts(who doesn't?), the decorations and the greek traditional sweets my mother and grandmother bake every year.
What I don't like is that some days of the holidays can get boring...

Incredibly bad and cheesy Christmas movies.

Hate Christmas. I have to buy people stuff they don't need and I could have spent the money on people who are less fortunate. I don't care about presents and or material goods so that part of Christmas is incredibly stressful for me. (I'd rather people make donations in my name, but my family doesn't seem to like doing that for the most part.)

I do like the christmas dinner and spending time with family unfortunately a lot of my family doesn't care as much and they'd rather play with their new toys then hang out with family. (Of course that's not everyone, so it's still enjoyable.) I also like a lot of classic chistmas music and also bands like the trans-seberian orchestra.

For me I hate everything leading up to Christmas, but the day itself is usually alright.
