| I was wondering how fast is your Internet, what general location do you live in, and the company you are with. Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test I get generally 6.5-7.0 Mbps and live in Starkville, MS, a college town with Metrocast. I just moved here this week. Before I lived about 20 miles away and got at maximum 3.0 Mbps with AT&T. |

Even for the U.S. , that's not that fast. For my home internet the most I get is 2 mbps and even that's not that often. My 3G speed is almost always higher than that usually around 3-4 Mbps and sometimes up to 5 or even in really good times 6 (I have an app to test this and I have used it a lot, and I have AT&T which really does have the fastest speeds). Now in Sweden their 3G gets speeds of around 70 mbps, or something like that. That puts most, if not all of the fastest home internet in the U.S. to shame. The fastest I have heard of in the U.S. is 50 mps. Other countries around the world get 1Gbps which is 1,000Mbps. They often have it cheaper as well. I tested again, and strangely, i keep coming up over 2 Mbps. I wouldn't think this was odd if it weren't consistant. Last edited by raney150; 07-06-2011 at 12:26 PM. |

I just checked the Metrocast's website and they advertise 18mbps but the highest package they offer is 10mbps. This package is nearly 70 dollars. My 3G on AT&T is pretty bad and very scarce. I think it's ridiculous that before everyone is up to a standard in the US, they move on to something bigger and better. Verizon is going to offer 4G here sometime this year, but the outskirts of town still do not have 3G on any carrier. |

4G has to be 100Mbps before it can be called 4G. All the carriers can call them 4G networks all they want but it's still 4G. And it's 4G that won't be much faster than AT&T's. AT&T is joining them and their HSPA+ is advertised as 4G when it's not 4G and they will be implementing LTE (which is what Verizon is implementing now and calling 4G) starting next quarter. The thing is, this tecchnology will EVENTUALLY be able to be called 4G, unlike Sprint's which is WiMax and is stuck well below the maximum speed of LTE. LTE can reach a theoretical maximum of around 300 something Mbps and WiMax is stuck significantly lower than 100. Basically I am saying that NO ONE has 4G despite what they say.Now the ISP I saw that had 50Mpbs is I think Comcast. |

I get 25 mb/s with charter, and I live in Los Angeles. I used to have AT&T, but that was complete crap. Slow as hell, and disconnected at least twice a day. When I start working, Im going to upgrade my Internet to 60 mb/s.
