If you feel so strongly about it then you should go on a revolt! Shoot, the mexicans are doing it! I see being emo as cutting yourself, anything else is just being different o.O

| Not only is that not funny, but it is actually pretty rude. Let's not bring race into this.

That is the image that is stereotyped as emo. People are going to label you (and everyone else) everywhere you go. Gay, Jock, Prep, Skater, Etc. Regardless of who you are or what you act like or dress like, people will always label you. It's not really a big deal if you don't let it bother you. I'd label those guys as a-holes. ![]() Sorry for the sappy answer. We had to watch a video about in labels English class ;~; |

Maybe it would make more sense to you if they had called you 'emo-ers'? You know, rockers like rock music, rappers make rap, and so on. Emo-er sounds funny, so maybe Emo or emo *** is their people-version of the word. Or are you asking why people would call you by a group/stereotype name because of the way you look? If you saw these people, would you make guesses about what they like or what they do? Good or bad, that seems to be a built-in feature of how many (most?) homo sapiens work. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Its a music genre. Anyone else who says otherwise is making light of a serious problem.

It's a music genre, but it's also a stereotype. You're going to get stereotyped no matter what. If you don't like it, there's only one thing you can do, and that's change your outward appearance. However, that choice isn't favorable. So the thing you should do is just ignore it. Don't worry, everyone get's stereotyped. I have a couple friends outside of marching band, and they sometimes tell me some of the nasty comments people have about us "band geeks". If they start going overboard with the comments, then don't be afraid to get physical. Keep your dignity. |

Emo is used as a subgenre of punk-rock.It basically means puck rock but with emotional lyrics. Emo is also used as a term for Punk-style.Being emo isn't cutting yourself or being a weirdo or something. Being emo is looking different than usual. But it's mostly used as a shorter version of emotional.Which is wrong, and totally is stereotyping.Which is used so much on internet that i'm starting to get sick. Even in this forum when somebody uses it,i just shut up so i won't have a fight with someone. |
