Assuming Trilogy doesn't count, Echoes.

It took every aspect of Prime and managed to scale it up to new levels. That's an impressive feat in and of itself, considering how highly rated the original Prime is. The atmosphere was more intense, the lore was better, the new equipment like the Dark and Light beam added a ton of new elements to the simplistic combat of the first, the difficulty was scaled up, and the boss battles (particularly the Dark Samus fights) were far more memorable than those of the original. It's where Retro's Metroid really stopped being a 3D reimagining of Super Metroid, and became it's own entity.

I am also apparently one of the few people that didn't mind the Dark World, an element that before it was only used particularly well in Link to the Past.

Super Metriod is still my favorite. I can't tell you how my heart was pounding when I was fighting Mother Brain, and I was so close to death and then the baby Metriod came and saved me and gave me the Hyper beam. That was an intense experience.I really liked the prime series, too.

The worst, for me, was Other M. But, my opinion is colored by how glitchy it was. First my Wii wouldn't play dual layered discs, so I had to have Nintendo repair my system. But even after that, Samus would freeze when you would try to morph into the morph ball, and you couldn't get out of it until you pointed the controller at the screen to bring up your visor. The only way to prevent this was to jump first and then morph into the morph ball while Samus was still in the air. I also hated when the camera would do a close up on Samus and you could only walk super slow (just before a cut scene), and you couldn't see the full scene or change your viewpoint. Why wouldn't they just make it go into the cut scene? The other really bad thing was when you had to scan a scene to find something to trigger a cut scene. But, you couldn't tell what you were supposed to look at, and the game wouldn't continue until you found it. I had to go online every time to figure out what to look at to make the scene continue. And, that was so pointless, why not just go into the cut scene?! Ok, I'm done ranting.

i didnt experience any glithces in other M but i agree that the scanning sections were the worst part of the game and one especally where you had to look for the green blood on the grassy field i couldnt find the F***ing blood but other than that i liked other M

Super Metroid and Metroid Prime are easily the best Metroid games ever made.
