Im currently competing in a mario kart 7 tourny that goes from feb 13 to march 4th...its a gamestop employee tournament and its split into regions,there is only a 1st prize givin to the player with the most points in each region at the end of the tournament.Now ive been racing since the second it started with every free moment ive had and have remained in the top 3 positions which have been fluctuating nightly because our point counts are so close....one of these players in the top 3 has gained a 250 point lead in about 3 hours....ive raced against him and hes not that good ...BUT he has gotten people at his store and others from nearby stores to play defense for him.....he and his "crew" pick mario circuit 2 over and over and they take out anyone in the room to protect his lead...also before tonight when i raced him i noticed in once race that he went from being in my sights to almost 3/4 of the track ahead of me...some sort of unlimited turbo...i actually saw him pass me and he was zig zagging all over in the grass and everywhere like super speed style, the only place ive ever seen this was in pc games when people were hacking or modding.....i will take action and email the organizers tomorrow to see what can be done about this guy...but in the meantime...does anyone know if the network can or has ever been hacked?...as in being able to adjust point counts?....and how bout a unlimited turbo?...i know it seems unreal but ive been playing mario kart since snes and i have never seen anything like it.....in one race i also saw him cycle thru the "7" to the bullet then back without even hitting a box?....

so far ive been winning -- but yeah, it's pretty easy (i would think) to not necessarily cheat, but stack your odds in this tournament -- i wouldnt take it too personally, if someone really wants to win, they just have to get their coworkers to help them (like it sounds like they're doing) and then split the winnings amongst themselves

the "super-boost" you're noticing is definitely just lag, no cheating

the weird thing for my region though, is there's some kid from Haiti (according to his flag) with a weird name (that isnt the tournament format of "FirstInitial-LastName-Store#") who just constantly picks maka wuhu over and over and over and then quits. Its bizarre.

additionally, i dont know if these "gamestop" rooms actually just appear in the suggested rooms area of the communities section of the game --- it'd be weird if they did.

no, you can't join the tournament unless you're a gamestop employee -- they distributed community codes for each region to the employees with specific instructions of disqualification if it is shared with the general public

Yeah, i'm in the tournament as well... and man there are people who REALLY want to win.

I'm the only one representing my store, but there is another store in my district that is going great lengths to make sure I don't get 1st.

This guy has his store playing defense, not only that he's boosting himself with these "dummies" and every time I catch him.. he literally quits, or if he sees me in the room he pretty much just ditches and waits till i'm gone.

I'd quit a long time ago, if wasn't for the fact that i'm so close on beating this chump in points.

Any other employees having the same "friendly tournament" experience ? Lol

it was probably some one snaking
(snaking is when you do lots of powerslide boosts along a straight part)
rest was lag
