Can someone explain to me what is new other than the StreetPass feature from that first link...? I'm still not seeing where these 'tons of new exciting details' are, unlockable levels are only expected from collecting star coins and maybe it's just me but the StreetPass feature seems like a very minor aspect of the game.

Aren't you excited about all these new details? It's Mario! And Luigi! And Tanooki!

Here is the article. I've highlighted the post game stuff. Eight unlockable worlds is more exciting than eight unlockable levels.

Spoiler!

Didn't we already see some of that propeller level that was described in a few of the trailers? Oh right, there's Cosmic Mario that's new but i guess i don't consider that to be a very important feature of the game. The OP was having doubts about the game and i cannot see how these few new details would convince anyone that was having doubts that it is worth buying.

It depends. If you were having doubt about content, then the new details should be convincing. If you were having doubts about gameplay, then the new details aren't very convincing, since they don't really change the way the game is played.

What I don't understand from the OP is that he state it "doesn't have the Mario feel," yet he hasn't played the full version of the game yet. Maybe he played a demo or watched the videos, but I think its hard to doubt the "feel" of a game without playing it fully first.

I don't really see how someone can have doubts about a Mario game. You either want it or don't, it's not like some obscure game that you really aren't sure about.

Exactly. It's not like they change much in Mario games.

I just realised that makes it sound like i am excited for this game, that wasn't my intention. I was making a statement about the little change in Mario games, though i did a poor job of it.
Buramu likes this.

Well, this is kind of late but in my opinion super mario DS and Wii were very fun and DS had more secrets Than Wii. But I don't think its about the secrets that make a Mario game fun or a good game. I also do like the retro Mario games, but I think the newer mario games are better. And of all that you said I don't think Super mario 3D land is the right game for you.
