I use mplayer to extract each frame from a video into multiple image files, then I use GIMP to make these image files into a GIF animation. I can make GIFs from any videos with that procedure.

When it comes to that specific avatar I made for you, I recorded myself playing Super Mario Bros., then I edited my recording. Then, I used my usual GIF making procedure to make the GIF.

I have internet, but it's not wireless. We just use it for our computer. Even if we had a router though, I wouldn't be able to use it for my games. It's not broadband. We live in the country, so we had to get Hughes Net. It's faster than dial-up, but is still waaaaay slower than broadband.
