- Owl City - Here's Hope (lyrics) NEW SONG 2012 - YouTube
I still have faith in his synthpop roots, because the first 10 seconds of this song are brilliant. The rest is great too, but the beginning is catchy as hell xD - I thought Gold was fine. He's had worse songs. :|
But yeah, he's losing the synthpop...ness of his previous albums :c - I downloaded it last week ;D
I liked it, but I hope the full album wont be completely the same. I want some of that europop from ATBAB and quirky synthpop from OE/MID.
I really love Dementia though. - Also, I didn't pay much attention to the Hardcore sub-genres. For me, anything that has a tempo of 170-175 BPM, a powerful beat and a hitting bass is Hardcore. lol.
When it comes to DnB, my favorite artists are Smooth, DJ Shimamura and Xilent. Can't wait for Xilent's next DnB release: Xilent - 'Ultrafunk EP' Trailer - YouTube
Other good names in DnB are Camo & Krooked and London Elektricity. I like some of their tracks, but I prefer the three above.
Sorry for making two VMs. I had too much to say for just one. - Gabber came from North America? I didn't know that, I thought it came from somewhere in Europe, due to Angerfist (from Netherlands), one of the biggest names in Gabber. Actually, the only Gabber track I like is from Angerfist.
DJ Shimamura's Dazzling is decent DnB. I like it. Also, you are lucky to have an opportunity to see DJ Shimamura live. My two favorites from DJ Shimamura are Drome (09 Update) and Documental. - Just to share you an important piece of information about Hardcore.
We know what we mean by Hardcore, but it also has another meaning. Be careful when you mention "Hardcore" to other electronic music fans, as they might think you mean stuff like this: Wasted Mind - Rayo De Sol [HQ Official Preview] - YouTube
The actual name for this genre is "Gabber", which is another kind of Hardcore.
I'm not a fan of that, though. - You liked Remember? Cool. So I take that you don't mind the dubstep-influenced part.
Rizing You Up is Hardcore, plain and simple. BPM is too fast to be Hard Trance, and is the usual Hardcore BPM. The song is not bad, by the way. Ryu☆ is one of the biggest Japanese Hardcore producers. There are also DJ Shimamura, REDALiCE and more. When it comes to United Kingdom, the biggest names are Darren Styles, Gammer, Al Storm...
You might also like some Drum & Bass. It's another fast-paced electronic genre. The two most popular kinds of DnB are Electro and Liquid. The former is basically fast-paced electro breakbeat, while the latter aims to be more calm, relaxed and peaceful. Both have a breakbeat and a bassline, unlike Hardcore, which has bass hits.
Liquid DnB: Loz Contreras - Rocking You - YouTube
Electro DnB: Seven Lions - Below Us (Smooth Remix) - YouTube - Basically, most Hardstyle has a bit of darkness in it. One of the few that has low, if more than not at all, darkness would be Geck-o's Bingo!, but it's not one of my favorites.
The first one you posted is Hardcore, but much faster than the usual 170-175 BPM. The one I was looking for was indeed Days. That Hard Trance is not bad at all. In fact, it's decent! Yeah, I said Hard Trance. The beat is too hard to be just Trance.
I just discovered these two cool Hardcore tracks today.
Technikore & JTS feat. Lisa Abbott - Breakaway
JTS & NiX ft. Sarah Marie - Remember
^ I have a feeling that a particular part of Remember will put you off, but oh well, I tried. lol - My favorite Hard Trance: Geck-e - Soul Train (TBYTE-036) - YouTube (Especially from 1:30. That part is much better than the beginning.)
My favorite Hardstyle is either 12. USAO - Nuit Blanche - YouTube or Dj Thera ft Yuna-X - It's A Fine Day (THER-071) - YouTube (I've yet to decide.)
Also, what was that Trance song you've already posted in the ChatBox? I'd like to hear it again. - Hey MythOS,
If you would like some info/suggestions about electronic music in general and its genres, it would be a pleasure to tell you about that.
Don't worry, I know you dislike dubstep. I take that into account. :p I bet you'll also dislike Drumstep and Dubstyle, and that there's chance you won't like Electro House, Electro Drum & Bass, Glitch Hop, Electro-influenced Hardcore and Moombahcore.
