With this positive news it is a good time to look at the fact Nintendo is still projecting a loss, and why they are, and how this 5 million result is right on track of their plans to a critical moment in system life (the 3 year mark.) Iwata went very in depth with it and much more information in his conference. A simply fantastic read about nintendos system for their software business model, after learning from mistakes made with the 3ds. Sadly, Incompetent journalists like Anton Shiloy somehow 'misinterpereted' a talk about business models into Nintendo making a statement on wii u system power, and the erroneous rumor spread like poison. A couple lines to peak interest. But Im not transcribing the thing. "This chart shows the transition of the Nintendo DS’s and the Wii’s software shipment numbers in each fiscal year. As I said that the third fiscal year is important, each platform shows a sales jump in their third year. When a platform can show such an increase, the entire platform business can significantly grow, so we recognize that the third year is very important." "Regarding your remark on Capcom’s "Monster Hunter 3 (Tri) G," (Japanese title) making a change in the Nintendo 3DS’s user demographics, you are exactly right. The number of Nintendo 3DS users who think of themselves as skilled game players is increasing. Also, the number of male Nintendo 3DS users in junior high school, high school and university is increasing. I believe I have previously shown you a pyramid chart of Nintendo DS’s and Wii’s user demographics, which showed surges in children and their parents’ age demographics, and between which was a dip, so that it looked like a two-humped camel. I think that dip is now being significantly filled." And a question that I found quite interesting that was thoroughly answered. "I’d like to ask about the development of the Wii U. You mentioned that, after the launch of the Nintendo 3DS, an insufficient number of applicable software titles were able to be released. Looking at today’s environment, I believe you will either have to prepare software further in advance or increase the number of people working on the software." This is an incredibly important subject, costs of game developments have shot up ridiculously, exponentially, this generation,, and a system as powerful as the wii u tech demos show.... Isn't looking to make this problem any easier. Quite the opposite. Honestly its pretty fricking daunting. But seeing Nintendos plan is actually pretty reassuring. I love games like rythm thief, and I dont feel they need huge dev teams and mind blowing graphics, even if the system is capable of it. Of course, that doesnt mean Im going to except cheap or ugly looking graphics that lack appeal either, And Nintendo seems to know this. Oh, but Nintendo is most certainly increasing the number of people working on the software that DOES need those rich photo realistic graphics too.... But if Nintendo doesn't have that many people... and they dont.... Where do they get them from? | Don't get smug. Sales figures say nothing about quality. Look at how the insultingly inferior Wii outsold the HD consoles. But neither the PS3 nor the X360 were "destroyed". In fact, most real gamers don't even care about the Wii and its pathetic library of casual dross and predictable Nintendo sequels.

| Why would you want that? Do you want nintendo to stagnate and have no competition? Also do you want a company like sony to fail putting thousands out of work? Think before you speak.

HAHA I SAID IT AND I'M NOT REALLY EVEN ALL THAT EMBARRASSED Anyway, if the discussion is on the 3DS at all at this point, I have to say I'm really impressed at the way the 3DS spiked in sales. It went from one of their worst launches to their best first year for a Nintendo handheld. Whatever they did, it's pretty astounding. Aaaaaaaaaand since nobody cares and we're all talking about the PSV, can someone tell me why this is a huge deal? We can all draw more squiggly crayon lines when the Vita is out for a year, and then compare those and bicker, right? I sort of feel like I don't have a stake in this fight, considering I scarcely have time to play my 3DS as it is.
