| So what will be the next big thing when it comes to video games? What type of console will be the next 3DS? |

It's impossible to tell. Nobody could have predicted that a dual-screen handheld, of which one was a touch screen, would be launched. Nobody could have predicted that 3D would have made a comeback in a practical form. Something equally unpredictable will arrive in the next generation of handhelds I guess.

nintendo is researching on how to use your pulse in video games, technology is already there that tracks your eyeballs, could implement that somehow, holographs are long overdue in video games

@plastik2k11 Instead of deterring imagination and innovation, you could try and come up with some hypothetical idea to spur discussion. The first things off the top of my head would be something with holographic imaging or virtual reality. VR has been developed and tried over the years but usually ends up being too cumbersome with equipment or too expensive to implement on a large scale. It can be done but we haven't found a good model for it yet. Holograms are pretty cool and Star Wars-esque and we've successfully created them. Implementing them in a gaming platform is a different task though. One example comes from Star Wars itself with that holographic chess type game that R2-D2 and Chewbacca play. I can see something like that become a reality. Making a portable system capable of that level of holographic interaction would be a challenge. Another thing on my mind is Augmented Reality which of course the 3DS implements. There are lots of implementations of this including cell phone apps and the PSP, but I think it could be developed further. Something like AR glasses that you could wear to superimpose things around you would be pretty sweet. You'd need a cord or wireless connection to a device like a 3DS to contain the actual programming. It would be sort of a VR/AR hybrid. Easier to implement since you wouldn't need to generate the whole world, just read the surroundings and add things to interact with. |

I honestly have no clue what will be the next console, all I know is that Nintendo ALWAYS has something new... that everyone else then copies...

Well, its impossible to tell. still valve is busy with skin sensors / breath sensors / heartbeat sensors / pressure sensors that change the game play and environment on the way that it keeps you focused inside. So that game environments can be altered to a personal touch, rather then to a standard for everybody. Still that stuff is far from there. Added after 4 minutes: Quote:
![]() still you will have limitations when you wanna walk through 3D enviroments i ques. The glasses part is already there actually, but wearing them already is a massive problem for the most people with 3D. So i dont think that anybody will be up for the task.
