| So, what's your favorite character to play as in SSF4? BZZZZT. Wrong answer. It's not Dan. In this thread here, I'm gonna teach you about Dan, the ass-kicking guy with an affinity for the color pink. No, not this Dan, this one. But seriously, Dan is the joke character of the Street Fighter series. His fighting style is "Saikyo" or "the strongest," a style he made up to replicate the style of Gouken (Ryu and Ken's master.) He runs a Saikyo dojo where he teaches the world about his style. Basically, he's another Shoto character (same style as Ryu, Ken, Akuma, etc...) but everything he does is worse. Seriously. As of right now, he's the second worst character in the game. Now, if you're going to play Dan, don't expect to be winning very much. However, I have some of the most fun playing the game when I'm playing as Dan. It just lightens up the mood, and makes it less serious. Plus, you can do awesome stuff like this. So, I'll quickly go over how you can get the most out of Dan, and you, too, can be a SAIKYO MASTER. Specials: Gadoken ![]() Dan's very-own fireball! ... but... this one is a bit... different... than everyone else's. Basically, it has pathetic range. It'll be really hard to pressure ANYONE with such pathetic range. The harder the punch button you use, the farther it'll go... but it won't go very far. The EX version goes slightly farther... but it's still not far at all. Overall... I'd just avoid this move. It'll lose out to pretty much ANY other projectile in the game. Koryuken ![]() Hey, a decent move! Dan's Koryuken is very comparable to other character's Shoryukens. This is a move you'll want to be able to do quickly. It will allow you to counter characters jumping in on combos. The stronger the punch button used for this move, the more distance will be traveled, and the more damage done. The EX version will hit multiple times. For advanced players, this move can be FADC-ed (Focus Attack Dash Cancelled) into another Koryuken or EX Koryuken. Dankukyaku ![]() Probably Dan's best special, and the one I find myself using most. This move is the most different from Ryu and Ken's variety of the move. In this move, Dan jumps of the ground and kicks, moving himself forward. The strength of the button used determines how far Dan goes, and how many times to move hits. The EX version moves much quicker, and doesn't start the kicks until Dan makes contact with the opponent. TIP: This move can break focus attacks. If you see your opponent using a Focus Attack, use this move on them! Supers: Hisso Buraiken ![]() In this move, Dan launches a huge series of attacks before finally uppercutting his opponent. The funny thing about this move, though, is that Dan will continue to attack the air if the move misses. Overall, this is a veeeery unsafe move. If you miss the first hit, you are completely open. Sometimes, the move even disconnects mid-super, and your opponent has time to counter. This move is also very hard to counter into. If you use this move on an airborne opponent, it will juggle them, making most of the hits miss. Legendary Taunt ![]() + Taunt (HP + HK)Dan's signature move. He unleashes a relentless series of taunts, confusing his opponent! Seriously though, this is just a taunt. That uses up a super meter. If you REALLY want to taunt your opponent hard, use this. There is one interesting thing about the move, though. This is the only Ultra Cancelable move in the game. What this means is, in the middle of this move, you can enter the input for Dan's ultra and execute it! You can use this to catch your opponent off-guard, or some Trial-mode combos even use this to continue long combos. Ultras: Shisso Buraiken ![]() Dan's first Ultra. In this move, Dan lunges forward and pummels his opponent. After a harsh beatdown, he gives a thumbs up to the camera, and flashes his pearly whites. This move does some surprisingly decent damage, but that's not the interesting thing about it. What you want to take note of is its invincibility. This move has an good few frames of invincibility. This lets you do a few fun things with it. 1. Go through projectiles. The move has enough invincibility frames that, if timed correctly, you can go through a projectile and hit your opponent. 2. Punish your opponent. Hard. If your opponent throws out an Ultra, even a projectile Ultra, with the right timing, you can turn the tables and hit them with your own. Haoh Gadoken ![]() Dan's GIANT FIREBALL ULTRA. Using all his strength, he unleashes a giant fireball, so big, that it causes him to tumble backward afterward. Generally, this is a better Ultra than Shisso. The combo opportunities for this move are much more plentiful, as it can be used as a follow-up to a Koryuken. It doesn't travel that far, still, but it does some pretty good damage. Be warned, though. Dan tumbles backward after this move, leaving him exposed. Make sure this move hits or is blocked when you use it. Other Noteworthy Moves: Throw That's right, Dan is so pathetic, that his throw is one of his highest-damaging moves. With Dan, you'll want to use throws rather often. Personally, I like using a throw after a blocked Dankukyaku, as it's often unexpected. Taunts! This is where Dan shines. How many taunts does your character have? 1? Psssh. Dan gets 3 different taunt commands, not including his Legendary Taunt. First, he has his standard taunt. You can choose the animation you prefer when selecting your character. Personally, I go with the taunt where Dan shakes his butt at the opponent. Second, he has his crouching taunt. It's quick, and it's one of his standards. Lastly, you have his mid-air taunt. That's right, he can taunt in mid air. This move actually increases the time Dan is in the air when used. For trolling purposes, use this move while jumping away from your opponent. Also, it has a hitbox. Why? Who knows. It does no damage, so it's mostly useless. For ultimate humiliation, you can interrupt and opponent's Ultra with this taunt. Suggested Lite Mode Layout [Ultra] [Koryuken H] [Super] [Dankukyaku H] I chose this layout because it gives you easy access tot he moves you'd want to use most. Having an instant anti-air is a scary thing, so you'll want easy access to the Koryuken. I chose the H variety because it deals more damages than the EX variety, even if it's more risky. The EX variety has more hits (which means more opportunities to make contact,) but because it's on reaction, you're unlikely to miss. Dan players often abuse the Dankukyaku, so you'd want that easily accessible as well. The Ultra is something you'll surely want, but Super could be switched around. Dan's Super is... not great, so it might be a good idea to sub it out for something. If you can do advanced combos, you might want to map Legendary Taunt there to combo into the Ultra. Or, you could map your throw there, because Dan players use that often, too. In Conclusion Dan's a fun guy. Playing as him just seems to make the game more fun, and he doesn't always have to be awful. People don't know about many of the tricks he can do, so be sure to learn the ins-and-outs of those. And remember: SAIKYO FOREVER

The only 2 characters I really play much are Dan and Zangief >.> I'll work on it. I mean, these ARE just basic strategies, anyways.

Nice, a player guide! You'll get reputation once I've finished reading! But if you play like the awesome stuff in the video, wouldn't be there alot of rage quitters? But that brings certainly fun. (Btw. Your profile showed all day that you are creating a thread in SSF4 Forum and I wondered why it does not appear )

And when people rage-quit in SSF4, they're sent to rage-quitter hell (they are paired against other rage-quitters.)
