Why would you have a lock on it in the first place since you need to save game files and such on it?

No, there's a little slider to the left of all sd cards that locks it when you take it out of a device and my broke off

Try and use a needle to force the broken swtich over, or buy a new one and copy all of your old data to it.

Try sticking a small piece of sticky tape over the switch (make sure it doesn't go over the metal bits) so that the 3DS & computer can't read is the switch is on or off. It worked for me.

Try to use a needle or a pin to move the small thingy inside that broke off.
